The Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle footballer is the son of Ofa Ngata and Solomone Ngata. He was born on the 21st day of January 1984, in Inglewood, California to his parents who migrated to the United States from Tonga in the early 1970s.
Haloti is the middle child in his family. He has two older siblings and two younger ones whose names are Vili Ngata (brother) and Ame Ngata (sister). His elder brothers are identified as Finau Ngata and Solomone Jr. Ngata. According to records, Haloti was named after his uncle who was also a footballer in his active years. His name is Haloti Moala-Liava’a and he is said to have represented the Utah Utes as a middle linebacker in the league from 1984 to 1988. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1990.
The footballer lost his father to a fatal accident in December 2002 and his mother followed four years after. She passed away after battling with Chronic Kidney Disease/Diabetic Nephropathy for so many years.
Ngata studied at Highland High School where he was part of the school’s football team and equally recorded more than 200 tackles and a berth in the State Championship as a junior. He later joined the University of Oregon and was a member of the Oregon Ducks football team for 3 years.

A representative of the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL), Ngata is a defensive tackle for his team which he started playing for on March 15, 2018. The footballer was drafted into the National Football league in the first round of the 2016 draft by the Baltimore Ravens football team. He later joined Detroit Lions football team in 2015 after his contract with Baltimore ended in 2014. His stint with Baltimore came to an end in 2017, after which he took up the No. 94 jersey as a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles.
While his contract with his first team lasted, the footballer excelled in all the seasons of the game, earning himself a spot on the 2010 All-Fundamentals Team by the NFL Players Association and the USA Football. Ngata’s outstanding career was, however, marred by a slew of controversies, including kicking football rival Shawn Lauvao during a preseason game in August 2014 for which he was fined $8,268. In the same year, Haloti was also suspended for four games for taking performance-enhancing substances which is a serious and punishable offense in the football league.
Beyond these negativities, the American football is one player many budding footballers look up to due to his rare athletic skills on the field and his ability to stay on the top as a defensive tackle over the years.
