Alex and Sierra – Profile

Alex and Sierra is a one-time musical duo which won the third and final season of the X Factor (US edition). The duo was made up of Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton.

Born on September 8, 1991, in Florida under the zodiac sign of Virgo, Alex Kinsey grew up exhibiting the traits of those born with the zodiac sign of Virgo such as loyalty, being analytical, kind, and hardworking. So much is not known about Kinsey’s parents and siblings. The much that is known about him is that he spent his childhood with his family in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Alex once won a boy pageant called Little Master Edgewater when he was still a young boy. He attended New Smyrna Beach High School after which he moved to the University of Central Florida where he obtained his degree.

Sierra Deaton, on the other hand, who stands at the height of 1.6 meters (5′ 3″) and weighs 56 kg was born on February 11, 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as Sierra Phuong-Thao Deaton to the family of Dr. John Deaton and Mrs. Vu Deaton. She grew up in Orlando, Florida. Her father, Dr. John Deaton is of British origin whereas her mother, Vu Deaton is Vietnamese, thus she has mixed ethnicity. Even though she is of a mixed ethnic group, she holds an American nationality, being born in the country. She attended Lake Howell High School and graduated from The University of Central Florida with a degree in advertising and public relations.

Career

Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton have been in the music industry for some years now. As a matter of fact, it is impossible to talk about Alex and Sierra’s careers independently. Though they had their fan base before their X Factor spotlight, their career was really at a shallow level until they auditioned for X Factor USA in 2013.

X Factor brought these two love birds to the limelight.  At first, the judges doubted their ability to stay strong until the end since they are romantically involved. They began their journey to stardom by wowing the judges with a sultry version of ‘ “Toxic”.

They continued on to the top 40 and was made their mentor. For the Four Chair Challenge, Alex and Sierra took on the / classic “You’re The One That I Want” from the musical film Grease (1978). They were praised by the judges for putting their own twist on the song and they went on to become the first and only group to win the American version of the show.

After victoriously winning the X Factor, they announced they would be working on their first album. They worked with top artists such as Julian Bunetta, Sam Watters, John Shanks, Toby Gad, , and John Legend.

On May 3, 2014, their first single  ‘Scarecrow’ was released and thereafter their promotional single “Little Do You Know” was released. Three other promotional singles were released after that. On October 7, 2014, the debut album, It’s About Us was released under Syco Music owned by .

Relationship – Are They married?

Alex and Sierra met each other in 2009 during their high school days. They met on a beach in Florida and went on to be friends with no attachments. It was quite interesting for both parties as they realized they both had a strong passion for music. Since they spent so much time together, it was not hard for them to fall in love with each other. Finally, they started dating in 2011 and did music together. In 2013, they auditioned for the third season of X Factor USA. As at that time, they were just dating and were yet to be married.

Why Did Alex and Sierra Break Up?

Till date, no one knows the actual reason why Alex and Sierra decided to break up. After dating for about 8 years, no one would believe that the couple will eventually go their separate ways. Nevertheless, the end of their relationship also brought to an end their music collaboration. The sad news was revealed on their official Twitter handle on September 1, 2017. According to their post, they had broken up over a year and attempted to still be friends. However, they thought it wise not to continue making music together, but instead to focus on their own individual careers.

So far, Alex has maintained a low profile as regards his relationship status after breaking up with Sierra. Much is not known about his recent relationships, therefore it would be unwise to assume he is single or in a relationship since there are no facts to back it up.

On the other hand, Sierra is all loved up in her current relationship with an Australian pop star, . Luke is a guitarist and a renowned lead vocalist of the Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer. She posted a picture with him on 16 July 2018, where she posed in a lovely gesture. The lovebirds had been careful regarding their dating life for a long time. It was rumored that they have been in a romantic affair since October 2017.
