Political commentator and businessman Cenk Uygur has made a lot of impact with his show The Young Turks (TYT). The Turkish-American has proved his significance in the contemporary world as a lawyer, political commentator, columnist, and also a journalist. Uygur has worked on different platforms as a political commentator; he was with MSNBC and was also at Current TV where he made left many good impressions. Cenk Uygur – Bio, Age
He was born on March 21, 1970, in Istanbul Turkey. His US citizenship came about after his family moved to the States when he was eight. Uygur and his family settled in New Jersey where he spent most of his childhood. Coming from a Muslim background, he was often bullied at East Brunswick High School school where he had his high school education. In recent times he does not identify with any religion; Uygur rather sees himself as agnostic.
After high school, he proceeded to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated from with a degree in Management in 1992. Cenk attended Columbia Law School and earned his Juris Doctor degree. Afterward, he started working at Drinker Biddle & Reath law firm located in Washington DC. He then moved to New York to work with Hayes & Liebman. Drawn to the political aspect of life, Cenk Uygur decided to make a significance by writing political columns for different print media outlets.
He started this while at college and became even more involved when he finished school. His views at the time were conservative oriented, frowning at various liberal acts like abortion, feminism and the likes. But in recent times he has gradually evolved into a progressive activist with pro-choice advocacy. Cenk started The Young Turks in 2002. The show centered on commentaries, news and current events revolving around politics. Making waves with the political commentary platform, Cenk went digital in 2015 when he created a YouTube channel for the program.
The channel grew rapidly with millions of subscribers flooding it on a daily basis. Cenk took his expertise to Current TV in 2011. He created an independent commentary show on the network with the title, The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur. He also succeeded as the network’s chief news officer. However, his Current TV edition of the TYT show later came to an end in August 2013. Earlier in 2010, the political commentator joined MSNBC as a contributor.
He was the anchor for MSNBC Live, but discrepancies in time slots led to his ‘relegation’ to a weekend slot. This, however, caused him to part ways with the network. Uygur was of the view that a talented commentator like himself ought not to be given a lower profile weekend slot. His next remarkable project was the popular Wolf-Pack which focused on putting an end to Corporate Personhood. The lawyer and political commentator has continued to make waves with his TYT program both on and offline.

Despite his busy work schedules, Uygur still carves out time for love and family. He is happily married to his wife Wendy Lang. Lang is a family and marriage therapist and has made name for herself through her significant exploits.
Reports have it that Lang was actually Cenk’s family therapist and that the two dated for many years before deciding to tie the knot. The couple has two children together. Their son, Prometheus Maximus was born in 2010 and in 2012, they welcomed their daughter, Joy Helena.
