Catherine Bach Bio & Age

Bach was born in Warren, Ohio on the 1st of March 1954 to Norma Jean Kucera and Bernard Bachman as Catherine Bachman. Her father is a rancher and her mom an acupuncturist. Despite her father being of German ancestry and her mother a Mexican descent, Catherine is a descendant of one of California’s earliest landed families – the Verdugo family.

She grew up in a ranch in South Dakota with her grandparents. She attended Stevens High School, Rapid City, South Dakota, graduated in 1970 and headed to UCLA where she bagged a degree in Arts. As a student, Bach made extra income by making clothes for theatre groups and friends.

Career

Catherine kicked off her acting career playing one of the children in a production of The Sound of Music. Her first screen appearance was in Burt Lancaster’s 1973 mystery film, The Midnight Man as Natalie Claiburn. Her next role came the next year in the crime film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, where she played Melody.

Bach first heard about the audition for The Dukes of Hazzard through her husband; despite not being close to what the producers were searching for (a-lookalike), she was hired anyways and she delivered on the character Daisy Duke perfectly well. On the show with her were the likes of James Best, John Schneider, and Tom Wopat.

She posed as Daisy Duke for a poster at the suggestion of The Dukes of Hazzard producers which sold five million copies bringing in extra income. She modeled for the schooner Californian back in 1985. Before then, Catherine Bach insured her legs for $1 million.

After the series ended, she starred in other feature movies including Canadian family drama series African Skies as Margo Dutton. She guest-starred on Monk in 2006 and made a cameo appearance in the comedy film You Again in 2010. Bach joined the cast of The Young and the Restless (CBS soap) as Anita Lawson in 2012.

Her Net Worth

Bach ‘s net worth is currently estimated at $6 million; which are earnings from her acting career and from her Diamond Jewellery business, a line she launched at Debenhams in 2002.

Husband, Daughters

Catherine Bach has been married twice; her first was in 1976 to the step-son of Angela Lansbury, David Shaw. The marriage ended five years later and they had no kids together. She remarried in 1990 to Peter Lopez (entertainment lawyer) with whom she has two daughters – Sophia and Laura.

In April 2010, her husband committed suicide by shooting himself; he was aged sixty at the time. Catherine would later reveal that the police originally thought she was the victim after a gun had gone off at their home in San Fernando, California. According to her, somebody was stalking her at that point and the police thought that the person had caught up with her and that the gunshot that went off was for her.

She told Entertainment Tonight that Peter’s suicide came as a big shock because no one knows what happened; she added that they had been happy together and that there were no signs that he was depressed or planned to take his own life.

Where Is She Now?

After that tragic incident, the actress has managed to move on with her life with her two daughters. Two years after Peter’s death, she was spotted on the beach in Hawaii with her daughters on a family vacation. She is still very active in the industry appearing a couple of low key productions.

The eighties pin-up is no longer as slim as she used to be as she has added a pound of flesh and appears much fuller. Responding to people’s body shaming her for her new size, she told People magazine in an interview: “I’ve put on a little weight, but so what? I wasn’t skinny from dieting; I was an athlete,” and obviously she no longer pays intense attention to her exercise regime as she used to in her younger days.
