When Cam Reddish was a 4-year-old kid, he could comfortably do things with a basketball that 8-year-olds will flop at. From then onward, his parents knew that their boy was bound for the National Basketball Association (NBA). Cam Reddish – Biography
His full name is Cameron Elijah Reddish and he was born on the 1st of September 1999 to Robert Reddish and Zanthia Reddish in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He has a younger brother named Aaron Reddish. Cam Reddish is of African-American ethnicity while his nationality is American.
Growing up, Cameron started high school at The Haverford School in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, he studied there briefly for his freshman year before transferring to Westtown School in Westtown Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania where he finished off.
In his time as a high schooler in the latter, he played impressively which contributed to earning his team the Friend’s School League title in his junior season. Cam Reddish played with the United States men’s national under-19 basketball team in the summer of 2017, having missed a spot with the under-17 as a result of an injury. In like manner, Elijah kept up with his impressive play in his senior year by the end of which he got named to play in the 2018 Nike Hoop Summit, Jordan Brand Classic, and the McDonald’s All-American Game All-Star games. He was also named the 2018 Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball.
As Cam Reddish bade farewell to Westtown School, colleges like Connecticut, Kentucky, Villanova and UCLA all stood in wait hoping to have him commit to playing for their men’s basketball team, however, Reddish preferred Duke University over them and committed to play for the Blue Devils where two of his co-top 3 recruits (R. J. Barrett and Zion Williamson) also committed to play.
Playing as a Small forward / Shooting guard in the Atlantic Coast Conference with his teammates, Cam Reddish has continued to impress fans of college basketball, as well as NBA scouts with his impressive play in each game. As it stands, it is believed he will be a first-round pick in the 2019 NBA draft should he decide to take a plunge for the professional league.
Career Stats and Rankings
Cam Reddish averaged 16.2 points per game as a junior while playing in the Nike EYBL Circuit in the summer of 2017 with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team, Team Final, he averaged 23.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
At this time, he also played with the United States men’s national under-19 basketball team which he helped earn a bronze medal in Cairo, Egypt, in the 2017 FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup. Reddish, in the tournament, averaged 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 12 steals in seven games.
By the end of his senior year of high school, the talented baller averaged 22.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game which showed a significant improvement from his stats in his junior season.
Seeing how good he is with the ball, it wasn’t surprising to see 247Sports.com rank Cam Reddish as the second-best player while ESPN ranked him as the third-best both in his 2018 class.
