She was born to British parents Judith and her husband Frank Holden. She also went on to attend Swanmore Secondary School. While she was there, Amanda participated in theatre displays organized by her school. As a teenager, Amanda relocated to Bournemouth where she attended and graduated from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
