Amaya Josephine Hermann is the daughter of and Peter Hermann. She was adopted by the pair shortly after her birth in the United States of America in the year 2011. The particular day and month Josephine was born are not known to the public, however, Mariska mentioned that she and her husband were in the hospital when Amaya was born.

Sadly, Amaya’s biological parents are strangers to the limelight as little or nothing is known about them. Their names, occupation, family background, are yet to be publicized, however, we gathered that they are of African-American ethnicity.

Like every other child of her age, Hargitay’s daughter is focusing on her studies in her school although the name of the institution she attends is not a matter of public knowledge.

1. Her Adoptive Parents Are Famous 

Amaya Josephine Hermann’s parents are not ordinary thespians; both of them are accomplished screen stars who have starred and produced several projects in the entertainment industry. Of her roles in the television industry, Mariska is easily recognized for portraying the character Olivia Benson, a New York Police Department Lieutenant, on the TV drama series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. 

Hargitay is into charity and currently serves as the president and founder of the organization, the Joyful Heart Foundation. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, the award-winning actress was born Mariska Magdolna Hargitay, on January 23, 1964, in Santa Monica, California, in the U.S. Amaya’s adoptive mom started her showbiz career in 1984 and she has made a net worth of $50 million from working as a producer, actress, and director.

Amaya’s father, Peter Hermann is an actor, writer, and producer. He launched his career in the year 1997 and has appeared in several TV, film projects, and commercials. The actor met his wife while they were filming Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and eventually exchanged their marital vows at the Unitarian Historical Chapel in Santa Barbara, California, on 28th August 2004.

2. Amaya Has Two Siblings

Apart from Amaya Josephine Hermann, Peter and Mariska are also raising two other kids. Their eldest child, who is also their only biological child, is called August Miklos Friedrich Hermann. The actress had August at the age of 42 on June 28, 2006, via an emergency cesarean section. According to Mariska, August was the one who requested for a baby sister and later a baby brother. The young man loves his younger siblings so much and he doesn’t hide it.

Amaya Josephine Hermann is the middle child of the family while Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann is the youngest child in the Hermann clan. Born on October 19, 2011, Andrew moved in with the Hermanns barely six months after Amaya was adopted.

Reports have it that Andrew’s biological dad (also called Andrew) was a friend to Peter and Mariska and that the younger Andrew was just two months old when his dad died sometime in September 2011. It was during the period the actress and her husband were mourning their friend that they were informed by the lawyer that the deceased was survived by a two-month-old boy who was born prematurely.

Peter and his wife later indicated interest in adopting Andrew. Within two days, the couple met Andrew’s biological mother who gave her permission for the adoption. Although Andrew is a regular hospital client, his adoptive parents have no problem with it and they are so glad he’s part of their life.

3. Her Ancestry

Amaya Josephine Hermann holds an American nationality by reason of her birth in the United States. As for her ethnicity, the celebrity child is African-American. In addition, it is not known if Amaya has biological siblings.
