Andre Ingram is a professional basketball player whose abilities on the court shines in every way. Like most players before him, Ingram honed his skills in the sports right from high school through college. As a collegiate player in the American University, he did well to finish with 1,655 points which made him the fifth all-time leading scorer in the college’s history. Andre Ingram was born in Richmond, Virginia, on the 19th of November 1985. One sport he has always been highly passionate about is the game of basketball which he began playing as a kid. His love for the game was so strong that he practiced as much as he could whenever he could and it wasn’t long till he started beating his older brother in the game. For his high school education, Andre was enrolled in Highland Springs High School, located in Virginia. In the school, he joined the basketball team and by his senior year in the 2002- 2003 season, did well to lead them to a historic first Group AAA championship title.
Furthermore, he was able to perform impressively which saw him post; a 49 percent shot from a three-point range, 9.5 rebound per game while averaging a total of 22.8 points for the season. By the time he was done with high school, Andre Ingram earned himself a lot of laudable titles including; Associated Press Group AAA Player of the Year, First-Team All-Metro, two-time Capital District Player of the Year, all in his junior year. He also got named the “First-Team All-State” and “First-Team All-Central Region pick,” as a senior.
After high school, Andre Ingram gained admission into the American University and quickly joined the American Eagles men’s basketball team during the 2003-2004 season. That year, he did well to lead his team to garner 13.6 points for each game as he started a total of 31 games. At the end of his collegiate career, Andre had recorded a career-defining score of 30 points on 10 out of 19 shots when his team faced off against team Lafayette. With 1,655 points all to himself, he was named the “American’s fifth all-time leading scorer. The basketball player later graduated with a degree in Physics in 2007.
On the 1st of November 2007, the same year he graduated, Andre Ingram got drafted by the “Flash” in the seventh round of the NBA Development League Draft. He would then go on to earn the title of “All-Time Leading Scorer” after playing with the Flash for four years, scoring a total of 2,098 points. Also, with 608 rebounds, he ranks second, with 184 steals, and third with a total of 336 assists. The Perth Wildcats (an Australian professional basketball team in Perth) was the next team he signed with on the 18th of October 2016 which also marked his first signing overseas.
However, just after one week with the team in which he played just two games, Andre requested that he be released from the contract due to mental health issues. He later signed up with the Los Angeles Lakers on the 9th of April 2018, just before the 2017 -2018 season was over. The move recorded his NBA debut as well as made him the oldest American rookie to be signed into the NBA at the age of 32 years.
