Biography

One of the interesting things about humanity is our laws and its implications. To say Andy’s ancestral origins are diverse would be an understatement. He was born in Colombia, but he has Jewish parents who are Americans. His mother, while an American, is of Ukrainian origins. A connecting line of Andy Lassner’s ancestry will show that he’s Colombian, Ukrainian, American and Jewish.

His early life in Colombia was quite good. Andy was born on December 30, 1966, in Colombia, Bogota to be exact because his father, Jules Lassner – a United States Marine Corps officer at the time was stationed in Colombia. Together with his mother, Danielle Gorlin Lassner who was a foreign language expert, and his brother who is his only sibling, they lived in Colombia for nine years. As a Jewish family, the practice of their religion was an important part of their lives. During their stay in Colombia, they established a Talmud Torah Hebrew School for Jewish children and converts to learn about the faith. After 9 years, the Lassner family returned to New York City.

At this time, there is little information about Andy Lassner’s education history, but as a child of well-employed parents, there is little doubt that Andy attended good schools before starting his career as a TV producer.

Andy Lassner started his career as a line producer in the 90s for The Jane Whitney Show. Like the linear growth that is expected of a professional career, Andy became the producer of The Richard Bey Show after his time on The Jane Whitney Show. In the year after Y2K, Lassner moved up to being an executive producer. He was co-executive producer of The List. After 2001, Lassner moved to The Rosie O’Donnell Show.

He didn’t start working at his career-defining role on The Show until 2003. He has been producing the show ever since. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Andy does more than producing the show, he regularly gets in on the action himself. He is the protagonist of a segment on the show called Average Andy, playing the role of an average person in comparison with experts in various fields. Aside from Average Andy, He also features on a yearly segment where Ellen puts him and a celebrity in a haunted house during the Halloween season. The segment is a result of Andy being prone to easy scare.

His career of over 20 years has seen him win 18 Daytime Emmy Awards. His other award recognitions include PGA Television Producer of the Year Awards in Variety Television.

Outside of producing TV Shows, Andy is a big fan of hockey and supports the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings. He’s also been known to lend his voice to political conversations and is a loud critic of the administration.
