American actress Anna Chlumsky is best known as a child actress who became famous in the showbiz world through the 1991 film My Girl and its sequel in 1994 where she played the lead role of Vada Sultenfuss. The actress had also modeled at the tender age of 10 months when she worked alongside her mum in an advertising campaign. Anna was born December 3, 1980, in Chicago, Illinois to mother Nancy and father Frank Chlumsky who were both into entertainment. Her mum was a singer, actress in addition to being a former flight attendant while her father was a saxophone player in addition to being a chef. Her family is Roman Catholic and her lineage is said to be of Czech and Croatian descent.

Anna is said to have attended Grace Lutheran Church & School and later Walther Lutheran High School. Her acting career which started very early was done alongside her early education days when she featured in films like Uncle Buck, Trading Mom in which she portrayed Elizabeth Martin, the mystery adventure film Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain in which she played Jody Salerno and her hit movies My Girl in 1991 and its sequel in 1994. Her small screen debut was in the film A Child’s Wish in which she played Missy Chandler. She has also been featured in the sitcom Cupid and in the film Early Edition which is a drama fantasy.

The actress took a break off acting between 1999 to 2005 while she was in the University of Chicago from which she graduated with a BA in International Studies. Upon graduation, Anna did not return immediately to acting as she tried to do other jobs like being a fact-checker for Zagat Survey and an assistant editor which she did not enjoy and decided to quit and go back to acting. To improve on her acting skills, she enrolled at the Atlantic Acting School in Manhattan.

Anna Chlumsky returned on the big screen in the 1995 film Wait in which she played the lead role of the character Cara. She also landed another role in the play The Colonel’s Holiday that same year and gave a wonderful performance in the play Balm in Gilead by Lanford Wilson in November 2005 held at the American Theatre of Actors, New York City. She has featured as a guest in hit series like 30 Rock, Law & Order and Blood Car.

The actress had her come-back big break in the satire In The Loop in which she played Liza Weld which was released in 2009. She also featured in an off-broadway play that year at The Public Theater titled Unconditional produced by Brett C. Leonard in collaboration with Labyrinth Theater Company.
