After just one year of college basketball in which he was able to achieve the men’s college basketball awards Grand Slam, Anthony Davis made his entrance into the NBA with the hopes of replicating his success on the big stage. The five-time NBA All-Star, three-time All-NBA First Team and three-time NBA All-Defensive Team member, has somewhat achieved a lot by stacking up his stat sheets although he is still yet to win the big one.

Biography (Age)

The NBA star was born Anthony Marshon Davis Jr., as one of three kids to Anthony Davis Sr. and Eranier Davis, on the 11th of March 1993 in the South Side of Chicago. From a very young age, Davis learned how to play basketball, playing almost every other day with his father, uncle, and cousins.

He attended Perspectives Charter School which played in the Chicago Public High School League. Davis did not garner any attention to his game until his junior year when he played AAU basketball and also appeared in the Nike Global Challenge. Following his headline-grabbing performances, colleges like Syracuse among many others offered him a scholarship. Davis, who at this point in time was playing the position of point guard, committed to Kentucky amidst a huge uproar that his father asked for money from colleges. He went on to average 32 points, 22 rebounds and 7 blocks in his senior year before college, earning first-team USA Today All-USA high school basketball team, first-team Parade All-American, and first team SLAM Magazine All-American selections among many others.

Going into College, Anthony Davis was touted as the next big thing even before getting to bounce a ball. He went on to lead his team to a perfect 16-0 record on the back of 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks per game averages after which his team lost at the SEC conference regular season championship.

Despite that humbling failure, Davis was still able to steer his team to win the 2012 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. On an individual level, he scooped the title of SEC Player of the Year, USBWA National Freshman of the Year, NABC Defensive Player of the Year, SEC Defensive Player of the Year, NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, and Consensus national player of the year. He further garnered Consensus first-team All-American honors as he declared for the 2012 draft where he was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the first overall pick.

Salary

The first overall draft pick by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2012 signed a three-year $16 million guaranteed contract with the team which gave him an average annual salary of about $5.33 million. When that deal expired, he signed a brand new five-year contract worth $127 million to extend his stay with the team. This means from 2015, he takes home about $25 million in salary.

Height And Weight

Anthony Davis has a very impressive height of 6 feet 9 inches or 2.11 m which he obviously inherited from his parents as his father has a height of 6 feet 3 inches or 1.91 m while his mother is 6 feet 1 inch or 1.85 m tall. Davis further weighs about 253 pounds or 115 kg.

Does Anthony Davis Have A Wife Or Girlfriend?

Anthony Davis does not have a wife but has been linked to a number of beautiful ladies. After being rumored to be dating fellow basketball player, , who later revealed she’s gay, Davis was quick to move on to the gorgeous Dylan Gonzales.

Ms. Gonzales is a basketball, volleyball, and track & field student-athlete at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is much younger than the NBA All-Rookie First Team member, having been born on the 9th of December, 1994. They started dating in the summer of 2013. It is not clear how long the pair dated before choosing to call it quits on their relationship.

After that relationship, he moved on to his new girlfriend, Marlen, who he reportedly began dating in 2017. Not much is known about her but the couple has a daughter named Nala together.

Twin Sister

Anthony Davis has a twin sister named Antoinette who he is older than by just one minute. Not much is known about her, unlike her overachieving brother whose highlight reel is way longer than his famous brow. It is not clear if she opted to also play basketball like Anthony and their big sister Iesha who also played the game at Daley College.
