While some of us have to try our hands on a host of things before we find out our actual calling, others do not have to go that far to see theirs and, it’s only fair to specify that the latter was the case for Anthony Rizzo on his journey to being a World Series winner.

The Early Days Of Rizzo’s Life

Born on the 8th of August 1989, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, Anthony Rizzo is the son of John and Laurie Rizzo. He attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School graduating in 2007.

Anthony’s baseball career started at Marjory Stoneman Douglas where he eventually became a sixth-round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2007. He was initially touted for a move to Florida Atlantic University before he made the move to Boston Red Sox.

In December 2010, Anthony Rizzo, Casey Kelly, Reymond Fuentes and Eric Patterson moved to San Diego Padres. Two years later in January 2012, he was on his way to the Chicago Cubs where his performances have earned him the status of a hero.

The Rizzos are of the Christian faith and they have their ethnicity as Italian-Americans. The family’s origin has been traced to the Sicilian town of Ciminna, Italy. It is said that the family have a thing for helping the society, this has been a major attribute of Anthony Rizzo himself.

Earlier in his life, Anthony was diagnosed with limited state classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This was in April 2008. After diagnosis, Rizzo had to undergo chemotherapy for six months. By September 2, 2008, Rizzo’s doctor declared to him that he was in remission and by that time he still had about six weeks of treatment left and some follow up tests to go through. Surprisingly, at the same time when Anthony was battling cancer, his grandmother was suffering from breast cancer.

In 2010, the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation was formed, it is run by Rizzo’s family and his management team. The foundation is a non-profit organization that has its sights set on aiding cancer research and also lending a hand to support families that have been fighting the disease.

There have not been any claims of him having a kid anywhere, so it is safe to say he’s yet to have a daughter.

As mentioned earlier, Rizzo was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is the son of John Rizzo and Laurie Rizzo. The man also has a brother named John Rizzo.

One thing is certain, Anthony has got good looks, so it will not come as a shock when one discovers that he has been taken. It was reported a few years back that he might be dating Chelsea Smith and they made quite the pair. They were pictured together at a New Year’s Eve boat party hosted by Rizzo.

He has also been linked with another gorgeous woman, Emily Vakos. Considering his affairs with Chelsea and Emily, it was a surprise when Rizzo admitted in an interview in 2014 that it is tough for him to ask a girl out on a date. He also conceded that he once downloaded Tinder but eventually thought it would be “so ridiculous” and decided against using it.

Anthony is not married just yet but is as close as it can possibly get. He is engaged to the aforementioned, Emily Vakos. The pair met when Rizzo’s baseball team, the Cubs were on a spring training trip in Arizona back in 2016. Via the magic of the internet, we were able to deduce exactly what the couple has been up to. They have made it a habit to travel the globe together. Together they ushered in the New Year in the British Virgin Islands.

The pair has also been to Thailand and Vietnam together. Emily has a degree from Arizona University in Nutrition and Food Management and that must affect Anthony’s eating regime somehow, she is also a real estate broker in Chicago. Quite the catch Rizzo. On June 1, 2017, he popped the question in a grand style as well. He made movies come alive on Lake Michigan with fireworks going off.
