How Did Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney Meet?
If you are familiar with the-long standing TV series, Is Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you would definitely know that Rob who played Mac and Kaitlin who portrayed the character Dee, became an item while on set. However, how and when they initially started seeing each other was kept a secret between the co-stars. According to Kaitlin, she revealed in an interview with Dax Shepherd on the Armchair Expert podcast that they did not make their relationship known initially because they were skeptical about how the other cast members on the show would handle it. Rob McElhenney who was the producer of the show was also being featured as Mac while Kaitlin appeared as Dee. They wanted to keep their professional lives separate from their personal lives to make other cast members comfortable. However, their secret affair was only possible for a while as by 2006, during the second season of the TV series, it became known that they were dating.
Kaitlin Olson also revealed that she was smitten by Rob McElhenney long before she realized he also had feelings for her. She was drawn by his charisma, the ease at which he made decisions as a boss and she admired him for his foresight whenever he was handling issues. On her part, she knew he was the one and did not waste time to step things up, although he just wanted to be casual friends with her at the time. However, Kaitlin knew he wanted more than a casual relationship with her because Rob would always call her to hang out on weekends and they will continue to see each other on set on weekdays. That was definitely more than what normal friends shared and Kaitlin knew it.
The actress also added that their secret relationship was fun and exciting while it lasted. Rob’s roommate Glenn Howerton, who also featured on the show actually believed that Rob was just going out to different bars to have fun on weekends. Glenn would usually complain about how Rob keeps going out over the weekends and he was apparently jealous that Rob was having a lot of exciting nights hanging out and making friends. Well, when things finally came out, you guessed right, Glenn solved the puzzle about Rob’s ‘super exciting weekends’.

With a very romantic story like theirs, it definitely did not come as a surprise when Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson got engaged in 2007. Rob realized that Kaitlin’s charms were irresistible and he fell head over heels in love with her. The actor has even revealed that Olson is the ”funniest woman in show business”. He surely won’t let this opportunity slip him by to always keep his home sunny with her heartwarming laughter. They eventually got married on the 27th of September 2008 in California.
After about 10 decades of a blissful union, we are happy to say that Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney are still married. They are currently proud parents to two sons: Axel Lee McElhenney who was born on 1st September 2010 and Leo Grey McElhenney who came two years later on April 5th, 2012.
Kaitlin and Rob are also notable as the owners of Skinner’s Bar located at 226 Market Street in Philadelphia. However, they later changed the name of the bar to Mac’s Tavern and the duo are busy managing the business, raising their kids, as well as pursuing their film careers.
