Austin Rivers Bio (Wiki)

The Washington Wizards Shooting guard/Point guard was born and named Austin Rogers James Rivers on August 1, 1992, in Santa Monica, California as the third child of Kristen Rivers and Doc Rivers.

Since he was a little kid, it was almost crystal that he was cut for athletics as his family is a sporty one. His father who is now a basketball coach for the Los Angeles Clippers, once played in the NBA until 1996 while his great-uncle, Jim Brewer, also became famous in the NBA. It gets more interesting when we learn that his elder brother, Jeremiah Rivers also played B-ball although he didn’t make it to the NBA, while Spencer Rivers, his younger brother now plays for UC Irvine. Outside of basketball, Austin’s sister, Callie Rivers played college volleyball.

Austin had his education at the Winter Park High School where he also played basketball. The best player of the school at the time, he led them to their first-ever state title after defeating Dr. Phillips High School in 2010. The talented baller also led his Winter Park Wildcats teammates to their second title only a year after to clinch the Florida 6A state championships after defeating the Dr. Phillips High School for the second time. He was eventually named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year 2011.

The Winter Park High School prodigy proceeded to Duke University in 2011 where he again had a worthwhile but very short college career. Before then, Rogers was named the ACC Rookie of the Year while also making the First-team All-ACC and ACC All-Freshman team all in 2012.

Austin Rivers played for the New Orleans from 2012 to 2015 before he moved to the L.A Clippers where he and , his father made the first Father-Son Coach-Son tandem in the NBA.

After a rather bumpy ride for him with the Clippers, the 6 feet 4 inches man made a move to the Washington Wizards in a trade that saw move to L.A. Although he did not start with L.A as a great player, Austin kept improving with each season as he played behind John Wall and Bradley Beal as the third guard. The move was successful even though Doc Rivers would have loved to hold on to his son.

Although he has had his own injury problems including one that has seen him out for up to 18 games, he has thus far had a rather good career. Starting 130 of the 408 games he has played thus far, Rivers has an average of 2.0 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists, .7 steals, .2 blocks, and 9.4 points per game.
