Formed by South Korea’s entertainment giant YG Entertainment, K-pop boy band Big Bang members have been setting the pace in the industry since they made their debut in 2006. Often tagged “Kings of K-pop” by the media, their contributions have not only won them unrivaled domestic and international fame, as well as recognition and awards, they have also helped shape the K-pop industry to what it is today.

Big Bang Members Profile
Big Bang was originally a five-member band comprising of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri. Seungri, however, left on March 13, 2019, amidst allegations of assault. Here is a look at each of the Big Bang members’ profiles.
G-Dragon
G-Dragon is well-known for his ingenious contribution to the group as its main songwriter. His works include “Lies”, “Last Farewell”, “Day By Day” and several others, all of which earned him role-model status for upcoming K-Pop youngsters.
Born Kwon Ji Yong on August 18, 1988, G-Dragon began as a trainee under YG Entertainment since age 11. He is Big Bang’s leader and face of the group. He is considered one of the top K-Pop wealthiest idols. G-Dragon has survived some controversies and was enlisted into the military in February 2018. He has several tattoos and loves colors black and red.
T.O.P
T.O.P was born Choi Seung-hyun on November 4, 1987, in a family of four; father, mother, an older sister and himself. He is childhood friends with G-Dragon. Besides being one of the Big Bang members and lead rapper/vocalist, he has appeared in movies like “Out of Control” and “I Am Sam”. T.O.P is the oldest of the groupmates and he is 5’11” tall. He enjoys reading and eating sushi. The rapper completed his military service on July 6th, 2019.
Taeyang
Dong Yong Bae was born on May 18, 1988, in Ujeongbu. He started training with YG during the same time G-Dragon did. In Big Bang, he serves as lead vocalist and dancer. He is a devout Catholic who married his first love, actress Min-Hyo-rin, in a well-celebrated union that is considered a rare success in the K-Pop entertainment industry. His name means “Sun” and he’s expected to complete his military service by November 11, 2019.
Daesung
Nicknamed “Smiling Angel” Daesung had a brush with tragedy when in 2011, he ran over a man lying on the road from a previous accident, thereby killing him. For a whole year, Daesung stayed inactive, owing to grief and sadness.
He is Big Bang’s lead vocalist and has gained a lot of popularity in Japan from their tours. His older sister is Bora and he was the third member to join Big Bang. Daesung enlisted in the military on March 13, 2018.
Seungri
Lee Seung Hyun was a former Big Bang member. He was also the youngest and the group’s choreographer. Born December 12, 1990, Seungri attended Chung-Ang University but dropped out to commit to his musical career. His dance academy “Seungri’s Academy” has coached several top idols. He is CEO of YGX, a branch of YG, and has his own show on Netflix called “YG Future Strategy Office”.
Seungri terminated his contract with YG on March 13, 2019, and is still under police investigation.
