Suga was born as the youngest son to parents who were financially disadvantaged. Yoon-gi was born and raised alongside his older brother, and he was still worried about his family’s financial situation, so he started working as a teenager, eventually working part-time at a recording studio by the age of 17.

Suga released his second mixtape, “D-2,” on May 22, 2020, with the lead single “Daechwita,” which went on to become the highest-charting album by a Korean solo artist in the United States.
