Brett Young’s Bio

Brett is a talented singer and songwriter who specializes in country pop. His full name is Brett Charles Young and he was born in Anaheim, Orange County, California on the 23rd of March 1981. He went to school at the Calvary Chapel High School in Costa Mesa, where he was involved in the school choir also assisting the worship leaders in school whenever they are not around. In his senior year in high school, Brett joined the school baseball team and was among the squad that went for the CIF Championship.

He got a baseball scholarship to study at the University of Mississippi in the late 90’s after he declined two pre-drafting attempt made by Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Minnesota Twins. He was indeed an outstanding baseball player while in school but his dreams of being a professional baseball player came to end when he was struck with an elbow injury.

Life As A Musician

After his baseball career grinded to a halt due to injury, he sought solace in music (which was his first love) and was inspired by Gavin DeGraw’s album “Chariot” as well as a song by Jeremy Steele. This inspitartion would see him face music squarely and he started by releasing a four-song extended play which was launched in 2007. He released the album “Make Believe” in 2011 followed by One fire, and Broken between 2012 to 2013.

Brett Young relocated to Nashville after several years staying at Los Angeles and in 2015 the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) signed him. In the following year, he released another six-song EP which had the songs “Sleep Without You”. His single “In Case You Didn’t Know” was released in January 2017 and was ranked  first on the Country Airplay Chart. In that same year, his third single “Like I Loved You” was out on July 10.

The country pop singer’s first studio album was produced by Dann Huff and the album was launched through the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG).

Brett Young – Awards, Nomination & Tours

The American singer has being nominated for several awards but he has only won one so far. His only award is the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards for the category New Male Vocalist of the Year.

Brett Young has also been nominated by the Academy of Country Music Awards in the New Male Vocalist of the Year category in 2017. His music video for the song “In Case You Didn’t Know” was nominated for as the Breakthrough Video of the Year by the CMT Music Award and the song was also nominated by the Teen Choice Awards under the category Choice Country Song. Brett has also landed the nomination for The New Artist of the year by the Country Music Association Awards in 2017 and 2018.

In 2017, Brett commenced his musical tours taking along his drummer, lead guitarist, bass guitarist and several members of his crew. His musical tours so far include Home Team Tour alongside Thomas Rhett, You Look Good World Tour, Caliville Tour with Carly Pearce, and Life Changes Tour in 2018. He is expected to be in the Miss Me More Tour alongside Kelsea Ballerini next year.
