Biography

The Dodgers second baseman was born James Brian Dozier on May 15, 1987, in Fulton, Mississippi. He was brought up in a small Christian family alongside his siblings, Leigh Anne Stockton and Clay Dozier by their parents, Mike Dozier and Jan Dozier.

Having played baseball since he was a child, he continued playing for the Itawamba Agricultural High School baseball team when he attended the school. He was a popular player there, making 2 All-State teams and being named the north Mississippi player of the year. From there, he went to the University of Southern Mississippi where he played college football. While with the team, Brian Dozier made the Conference USA All-Freshman Team and was also named a Freshman All-American.

Brian Dozier’s MLB Career

Having had a great college career, Brian Dozier became the pick of the Minnesota Twins in the eight round of the MLB draft of 2009. After this, he kick-started his career playing in the Minor league before going on to be the Sherry Robertson Award winner of 2011 after he became the Twins Minor League Player.

In 2012 when Justin Morneau was put on the disabled list, Dozier was promoted to the Major League to replace him. It was from here that he came to establish himself in the team and made a record of 25 runs in April 2014. Interestingly, this record brought down the earlier record set by the team’s former Baseball Hall of Famer, Paul Molitor whose club record stood for a massive 18 years.

Inasmuch as 2014 was a great year for him, he did not make the All-star game, he made the 2014 Home Run Derby after American League captain  selected him. In that same year, he would go on to record 20+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases (20/20 season) which would have him as the 13th second baseman in the history of the MLB to make such, as well as the first in the history of the Twins. Also, he became the second baseball player ever in the Twins history to record such an achievement.

With many other achievements in the MLB, Brian Dozier came second in the All-Star Final Vote to Mike Moustakas but got to replace José Bautista, and in 2017, he won the Gold Glove Award. In July 2018, Dozier he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Without any surprises, in his first game for his new team, Brian hit a home run which impressed the team and got him a curtain call.
