Like her father Ron Howard who is an actor and film director, Bryce Dallas Howard is an actress and director. She is also a producer and writer, like her mother, Cheryl. Bryce Dallas Howard – Early Life
Bryce Dallas Howard was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in New York and Connecticut. Her parents are Ron Howard and Cheryl Alley-Howard. She was born on March 2, 1981, and her father, Ron, is a bigtime actor and film director in Hollywood while her mother, Cheryl, is a writer.
She is the first child of the family and she has three other younger siblings – twin sisters, Jocelyn and Paige, and a brother, Reed Howard. Bryce Howard’s talent in entertainment would be said to come from her father, who hails from a lineage of actors and entertainers, so its no surprise she caught the gene even though she was not groomed to follow the pattern.
What that means is that even though they had a showbiz father and were also surrounded by people from the world of entertainment ( was a family friend), Bryce and her siblings were not afforded the freedom other American Children were afforded. They were not encouraged (I think “allowed” should be the word) to watch television at home.
In fact, her parents encouraged them to participate in outdoor activities like sports and other hobbies. Showbiz was not encouraged while she was growing up. However, it is ironical that Bryce actually got her initial exposure to the big screens through her father. Ron, who was a film director would always use her to fill the role of extras in his movies.
Bryce Howard began her high school education at Greenwich Country Day School but did not graduate as she moved to continued her education at Byram Hills High School and graduated in 1999. After high school, she proceeded to the New York University’s (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts and studied there for three years (instead of four) while also taking lessons at Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
She was also taking part in the recording of the Broadway musical, A Tale of Two Cities. She eventually dropped out of NYU when she was in her third year to focus on her career. She attended the performing arts camp, Stagedoor Manor – with fellow actress, , The Actors Center, New York, and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s School in Chicago.
