Carmen Electra is an American-born dancer, singer-turned-model, actress and TV personality. As a singer, she recorded her first studio album under Prince’s Paisley Park Records and also went on tour with the iconic musician. As an actress, she is well known for playing the character Lani McKenzie on the drama series Baywatch. The highpoints of her modelling career include several cover features on the popular Playboy magazine.

The beautiful actress was born on April 20, 1972, in Sharonville, Ohio. She was given the name Tara Leigh Patrick at birth. Her parents were both musicians as her father Harry Patrick was a guitarist while her mother Patricia was a singer. She was raised alongside 5 older siblings; 4 brothers and a sister Debbie. Electra has English, German, Irish and remote Dutch ancestry.

The young Carmen Electra had her early education at Ann Weigel Elementary School. She also enrolled for dance classes at Dance Artists studio in Western Hills Cincinnati, Ohio. She later studied at the Cincinnati-based School for Creative and Performing Arts. She eventually completed her high school education at Princeton High School, graduating in 1990. A bundle of talents, Electra also studied at Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Cincinnati.

In the early ’90s, Carmen Electra started out as a singer and she served as a lead singer of an LA-based rap group. During one of her performances, she was scouted by an agent of the legendary rock musician  who signed her on to Prince’s Paisley Park Records. In 1992, Electra served as the opening act during the purple one’s Diamonds and Pearls Tour. The following year, the talented singer recorded an eponymous album tagged Carmen Electra: Carmen Electra (1993). Electra was also a regular performer at ‘s LA nightclub “Glam Slam”.

In 1995, Electra launched her acting career as she appeared in a number of TV shows. The exposure boosted her popularity and in May 1996, she landed her first feature on the Playboy magazine. Appearing on Playboy was good for Electra’s acting career as she got cast as Lani McKenzie on the long-running series Baywatch (1997-98). She also served as the host of the MTV dating show Singled Out from 1997 to 1998. In 2003, the gorgeous actress reprised her Baywatch role on the series’ reunion telefilm Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding. 

Carmen Electra has also graced the covers of the December 2000, April 2003 and the January 2009 issues of Playboy magazine. On July 6, 2011, Electra appeared as a guest judge on the 8th season of the reality show So You Think You Can Dance. She also appeared as a guest judge during the London auditions of Britain’s Got Talent season 6.

In November 1998, Electra got married to NBA star . The duo tied the knot in a ceremony held at Little Chapel of the Flowers located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nine days after the wedding, in an unprecedented move, Dennis Rodman filed for an annulment. According to the NBA star, he was of “unsound mind” when the marriage was contracted. The couple later settled their differences and remained together. However, the marriage could only survive for just 4 months as the couple headed for the divorce courts in April 1999. Several years later, Carmen Electra revealed that she had entered into marriage with Rodman as a means to numb the pain of losing her mother and sister.

Carmen later met and married American-born musician and actor Dave Navarro who is also a guitarist and songwriter. He is popular as one of the members of the LA-based rock band Jane’s Addiction. It is unclear when the duo started going out, however, they got engaged on August 14, 2001, and eventually tied the knot on November 22, 2003. The couple chronicled their journey to the altar on a 7-episode MTV reality show ‘Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave. Electra’s marriage to Navarro lasted for 3 years as the couple announced that they were going their separate ways on July 17, 2006. The actress later filed for divorce on August 10, and it was finalized on February 20, 2007.

Carmen Electra later got engaged to another guitarist and songwriter Rob Patterson, well known as former member of the heavy metal band Otep after which he had a short stint with the rock band Filter. Electra and Patterson remained engaged for many years, however, they never made it to the altar. They eventually broke off the engagement and ended their relationship in 2012. Electra Carmen also had a relatively brief relationship with popular reality TV show judge Simon Cowell from December 2012 to February 2013.
