It was in Paddington London that the YouTuber, Casper Lee was born on April 24, 1994. After his birth, his mother took him to South Africa where he lived with his family, his parents and older sister, Theodora. He was diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome – a neurological disorder which is characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics – when he was six.

While in South Africa, his family moved to different parts of the country where he had the chance to experience many facets of life and garner some lifelong lessons. First, it was to a rural area called Fort Nottingham and then to Durban, South Africa where he attended an all-boys school, Crawford College, La Lucia.

At the age of 11, he had to move once again to Western Cape, where he learned how to play tennis. He also attended Oakhill High School, Knysna. A few years later, his parents, Emily Riordan Lee and Jonathan Lee divorced, which although didn’t augur well with him, he was able to establish a strong relationship with his parents afterward.

Caspar started his YouTube channel in 2011 named Dicasp (Director Caspar) but was later renamed to Caspar. His channel became fairly popular within a short time and he began to collaborate with other famous YouTube personalities like Joe Sugg (who he would later share an apartment with), JacksGap, , Marcus Butler among others. The collab helped to increase his number of subscribers to the point that it became a career. He even started another channel, morecaspar where he uploads funny vlogs.
