American singer, Chester Bennington was a highly loved member of Linkin Park before he died in 2017. The man who was the rockband’s frontman was also a songwriter as well as an actor, making him very vast.

Since becoming very popular with the turn of the millennium, Bennington had attracted a lot of people including those who loved, those who were indifferent, and those who saw no reason to love him.

Chester Bennington’s Bio 

Born March 20, 1976, as Chester Charles Bennington in Phoenix, Arizona, it was also here that he spent much of his childhood which was not as great as anyone would have wanted.

While his father was a police officer who handled child sex abuse cases, the singer suffered the same abuse from a friend who was much older than himself. Nevertheless, he didn’t disclose this to anyone including his mum who was a nurse because he didn’t think anyone would believe him. He was also scared that those who did believe him might probably think he was gay. This abuse began when he was 7 and did not stop until he finally opened up to his father at the age of 13.

Chester’s troubles soon got worse when his parents got divorced when he was 11. This, coupled with his other challenge of suffering from abuse made the future rock legend hate humans and sometimes felt the urge to kill all them and run.

With his love for music and his great creativity, however, he was able to channel his anger and frustration into painting and poetry. Still, he would later find himself struggling with drug abuse even before he was 18, but as the survivor that he was, he would again pull out above his addiction.

Music and Film Career 

The singer began his music career with a band known as Sean Dowdell and Friends when he was only 15. The next year, he moved on to Grey Daze where he was the band’s lead singer. His next move which was to be his major and most significant was to Join Linkin Park. With the band, he rose to prominence and became wildly loved by people who appreciated rock with the influence of rap. It was with the band that he released albums including Hybrid Theory (2000), Meteora (2003), Minutes to midnight (2007), and One More Light Live (2017).

He also got to be a part of more than a couple movies including Crank: High Voltage (2009) and Saw VII (2010).

Death

In July 2017, the Dead by Sunrise co-founder was found dead in his home in California by his housekeeper. Prior to his death, it was reported that Bennington was struggling to remain sober, even though it was only half a bottle of alcohol that was found at the scene as well as a broken pill of a generic Ambien with its prescription. His autopsy report also confirmed that he took alcohol before his death.

Prior to his death, the singer had, for quite some time, been battling with various health issues even though none was believed to have led to his death. It was also noted that he was not free of suicidal thoughts. To further fuel the rumor about him being suicidal, his wife’s barely hours after he died and it was posted that she was cheating on Chester with Linkin Park guitarist, Mike Shinoda. The tweets which also claimed that Bentley only married Chester for his money were soon deleted after they were posted.

After it was reported that Chester Bennington was dead, a fan of his committed suicide. The man,  who was 36, was said to have been distressed at the singer’s death coupled with his personal problems that included his marriage, he also decided to end it all.

Chester Bennington’s Children, Wife, Family

Inasmuch as Talinda Ann Bentley is the one many have come to know as Chester’s wife, he was married to another woman before her. The singer’s first wife was Samantha Bennington whom he married in 1996. The two were together for 9 years before finally calling it quits in 2005. The marriage produced a son, Draven Sebastian Bennington who was born on April 19, 2002.

After his failed first marriage, Chester Bennington went on to marry Bentley in 2005. Before their marriage, the woman was a model who in her much earlier days posed for Playboy. With Bentley, Chester had three children: a son, Tyler Lee Bennington (2006), and twin daughters, Lily and Lila Bennington (2011).

Apart from these 4, the Numb singer also had two children with his earliest sweetheart, Elka Brand. She gave birth to his first son, Jaime Bennington in 1996, and after the two broke up, Chester went on to adopt Elka’s son, Isaiah Bennington.

Before his death, the singer was very close to his family and he loved his kids even though he kept them away from the public eye. He was last with his wife and kids in Arizona before he returned home and ended his life.
