Christine Ko is an American-born film and TV actress and fashion designer. The multitalented star has Asian roots and is able to speak both English language and Mandarin Chinese. She had a brief acting career in Taiwan from 2010 to 2011 prior to her success in America.

To television audiences, Ko is best known for her main role as Emma in the CBS sitcom The Great Indoors. She also had a recurring role on the long-running hit series Hawaii Five-0. Beyond her flourishing acting career, she is also a fashion entrepreneur having founded her own jewelry company “Kaiio Jewellery and Accessories” in October 2013.

Christine Ko was born in Chicago, Illinois, on the 3rd day of August 1988. She was raised in Atlanta by an aunt and an uncle whom she regards as her parents. She also spent some part of her childhood and teenage years in her biological father’s native country of Taiwan.

Her biological parents were both involved in showbiz and thus, her current career path is really not surprising. Information regarding her early education is not available but she is known to have taken art and dance classes as a teenager. For college, Ko attended Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies.

Christine Ko can be said to have been a late bloomer as she did not begin her showbiz career until after graduating from college in 2010. In 2012, she marked her debut on US television with a minor role in the one-season long soap opera Hollywood Heights. She later scored a guest appearance in the hit comedy series Ballers (2015).

While her acting career was still in its early stages, Ko did several jobs in order to pay her bills. She worked as a waitress, a part-time Uber driver and a babysitter in Los Angeles. She ultimately got her breakout role in the short-lived sitcom The Great Indoors (2016-17) starring as series regular Emma. Interestingly, this role was originally written to be a blonde woman but Ko’s agent was able to secure an audition for her after which the show producers decided to change the appearance of the character.

Following her breakout performance, Christine Ko recorded guest roles in the comedy series Adam Ruins Everything (2018) and the crime series Deception (2018). Also in 2018, she was cast in the long-running police action series Hawaii Five-0 starring as a recurring character Jessie Nomura.

This talented actress has equally recorded a number of film credits in the course of her career. She marked her film debut in the historic film The Jade Pendant (2017) in which she portrayed the character May. Her next movie role was in the comedy flick Grandmother’s Gold (2018) after which she appeared in the thriller Extracurricular Activities (2019). Christine Ko was also cast in the drama film Tigertail scheduled for release in 2019.

Christine Ko’s father, Frankie Kao, was a multitalented star during his lifetime. He was a singer, television presenter and also an actor. He was half Chinese and half Vietnamese but was born in Southern Taiwan. Her mother, Wen Chieh, is not very popular in the West but she is known to have worked as an actress in Asia.

Ko is the only child of her parents as their marriage ended in a divorce when she was 3 years old. However, she has five siblings from her father’s side including Chaoen Ko and Andy Ko, an actor. Her father died at age 63 in February 2014 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
