The Good Doctor actor was born on the 19th of June, 1990 in the West London city of Hammersmith, England. Named Chukwuma (an Igbo; South Eastern Nigerian name meaning God Knows) Modu, he holds a British nationality but has a cocktail of ancestry; Nigerian, German, English, and Irish descent.

Growing up, Modu was interested in a number of activities but sports particularly boxing and arts stood out among the rest. He began training in boxing at the age of 12. Also, he regularly visited the theatre including The Globe Theatre in London from where he learnt the tenets of stage performances. It could be during those visits that he started considering the prospect of an acting career.

In 2012, Chuku Modu took his interest in acting to the next level by enrolling at the Richmond Drama School at the Southwestern Borough of Greater London. After his education, he began his acting career.

Chuku Modu recorded a number of short film appearances including The Dawn, The Last Days of Margaret Thatcher, and Loft No.5, all in 2014 and also in another 2015 short movie titled Stages. Then in 2016, he had a small speaking role in Warner Bros romantic film Me Before You as a Mauritian Waiter. The movie also cast , , , , , and in starring roles.

Later that year, he further announced his presence with a recurring role on HBO’s as Aggo. He also had three other film roles, in the short films Heavy Weight as Paris and Survive in the role of Talib as well as Rick in Open All Night. Although Modu has starred mostly in short films on the big screen, it does not, however, translate into having less acting skills as he has consistently nailed his roles with impressive performances and elite dialogue delivery.

In 2017, he appeared in several episodes of Crackles crime comedy-drama web series Snatch as the Flying Squad Leader. Chuku Modu had another career-defining role on TV. He joined the main cast of ABC’s medical drama television series as Dr. Jared Kalu, a surgical resident who is eager to be at the top of his game. Though his time on the series turned out to be short-lived as he did not return for the second season, he still manages to get fans waiting on his next projects. His fame was further heightened when he appeared in the 2019 Marvel Studios film, Captain Marvel as Soh-Larr co-starring , , and .

Besides acting, Chuku Modu is also a writer and producer. He co-wrote the short film Heavy Weight in 2016 and is credited as the writer as well as executive producer in Freedoms Name Is Mighty Sweet which is soon to be released. He is also set to appear in the upcoming film as Charles Hunter.
