Clark Gregg is a notable Hollywood actor, director, screenwriter and voice actor who has been active in the industry for three decades. During these periods, he has starred in over seventy movies and television films, some of which are great blockbusters.

He starred in Iron Man I&II, Choke, Six Ways to Sunday, The Avengers, Hoot, Thor,  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Ultimate Spider-Man, The New Adventures of Old Christine, ‘Will & Grace, The West Wing and Cam, My Sister’s Keeper, Lip Service, and many others.

Gregg has also done a handful of voice acting. He has lent his voice to characters in Lego Marvel Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel Heroes and Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

Brief Bio – Age

The multi-talented actor was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 2, 1962, as Robert Clark Gregg to a Stanford University professor and Episcopal priest Robert Clark Gregg and Mary Layne. Due to the nature of his father’s work, the family relocated frequently and this resulted in Gregg living in several cities so much that by age seventeen, he had lived in seven cities.

He attended high school in North Carolina, a school in Chapel Hill, at the time his father was a professor at Duke University. After High School, he enrolled in Wesleyan University but had to drop out after two years and relocated to Manhattan. Before enrolling at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he bagged a degree in drama and English, Clark worked various jobs, as a parking valet at a restaurant, security guard at the Guggenheim Museum, and a bar.

Career

After graduation in 1986, he launched his career fully into acting. He was a founding member and later artistic director of Atlantic Theater Company (an off-Broadway established in 1983).

In 2008, he wrote and directed Choke a black comedy film based on a novel of the same name, written by Chuck Palahniuk. In that same year, he appeared as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s agent Phil Coulson in the movie, Iron Man and in 2010, he again played Agent Coulson in Iron Man 2. Following the successes of Iron Man and Iron Man II, Gregg signed up for a multiple film deal as the character with Marvel Studios and in 2011, he once again returned as Coulson in Thor.

With another huge success recorded in Thor, he reprised his role in The Avengers. He also starred in a series of Marvel short films that centred around his character. He was part of a staged reading of The Normal Heart (an autobiographical play written by Larry Kramer), to mark the play’s 25th anniversary. He was joined on stage for the reading by Tate Donovan, Dylan Walsh, and .

In 2012, it was announced that Clark Gregg will again be reprising his role as agent Phil Coulson in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – a TV series created by Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jed Whedon for ABC. 

On April 20, 2013, a movie written and directed by Gregg, Trust Me, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. He also wrote the screenplay for What Lies Beneath.

Clark Gregg has been featured in a number of films in a supporting role. In Lovely & Amazing, he played Bill, as Nelson Primus in The Human Stain, and as Mark Steckle In Good Company. He has also appeared in Will & Grace, Sports Night, Sex and the City and The West Wing as a guest star.

He is a recipient of Sundance Film Festival Award for Special Jury Prize: Dramatic, Work by an Ensemble Cast (2008), the National Board Of Review Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble (2000), Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Ensemble Cast Performance (2001), Florida Film Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble Cast(2001), and Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor (2013).

Gregg has been happily married to Jennifer Grey since 2001. Jennifer is a Hollywood actress and a daughter to award-winning  American actor, singer, dancer, director, and photographer, Joel Grey.

The couple welcomed a daughter named Stella, in December 2001. Gregg and Jenny co-starred in the Lifetime TV movie Road to Christmas. The two were part of the demonstrators at the 2017 Women’s March held in Washington, D.C on January 21, 2017.
