This muscle man from Ohio loves to throw down so much that he decided from an early age to do just that in terms of his career. Dolph Ziggler has been throwing punches and kicks in the ring since he was in high school. The wrestler had already started to rack up the trophies and recognition before he signed his first professional contract with the WWE in 2004, making his debut with Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Just two years later, in 2006, he clinched the World Tag Team Championship before becoming a mainstay in the WWE main roster since 2008. Since then, the blonde haired fighter has gone on to win titles such as the Wolrd Heavyweight Championship twice, and the Intercontinental Championship five times.

Dolph Ziggler Bio (Age)

The Cleveland, Ohio native was born on July 27, 1980, as Nicholas Theodore Nemeth and attended St. Edward High School in Lakewood. His wrestling career at high school level saw him clinch the National Championships twice and hold the school record for highest number of pins (82) in a career.

At Kent State University, Theodore Nemeth won the championships three times in a row and was a three-time champion in the All-Mid-American Conference. Until 2006, Nemeth held the record for the most career wins (121) of any Kent State University wrestler in their collegiate career.

After being signed to a developmental contract with the WWE in 2004, he made his debut with Ohio Valley Wrestling. In September 2005, Dolph made his debut on RAW in an episode of Sunday Night Heat, where he participated as a sidekick for Chavo Guerrerro Jr. Shortly after, he was pit against Matt Striker and Shelton Benjamin in a tag-team matchup on another episode of Sunday Night Heat.

Back at Ohio, Nemeth was put together with four other wrestlers to form the wrestling group known as The Spirit Squad. Their in-ring persona saw the team dress like a group of cheerleaders for their fights. In April 2006, the team won their first World Tag Team Championship against WWE veterans and Kane, thanks to the Freebird Rule.

During that period, The Spirit Squad was also known for their scripted rivalry with the McMahons and another wrestling group, D-Generation X comprising of Triple H, , and The Highlanders whom they defeated to retain their Championship title. After losing their championship to Ric Flair and Roddy Piper in November 2006, the group disbanded later in the month after losing a handicap match to Ric Flair and D-Generation X.

Nemeth and former Spirit Squad member Mike Mondo formed the group Frat Pack back at OVW in 2007. The group was short lived and Theodore moved to the Florida Championship Wrestling. Here he teamed up with Brad Allen to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship on March 22, 2008. They eventually failed to defend it, losing it on April 15 to the same team they had won it from a month earlier.

In September 2008, he made his way back to the big leagues with RAW. This time he stopped using variations of his real name and started going by the pseudonym Dolph Ziggler. The period from 2008 to 2009 saw him gain crucial victories against the likes of Charlie Haas, R-Truth, and The Great Khali. Ziggler also faced the likes of Rey Mysterio, Batista, Montel Vontavious Porter and Kane who memorably eliminated him just 21 seconds during the 2009 Royal Rumble match. Dolph Ziggler also wrestled in high-profile pay-per-view events like Hell in a Cell, Summerslam, and Night of Champions.

In February 2010, Dolph wrestled in the WrestleMania XXVI. He would later clinch his first WWE Intercontinental Championship in a victory against Kofi Kingston in a SmackDown event. He later defended the title successfully against Kingston at Summerslam, Night of Champions, and TLC, and against Kaval at the Survivor Series. Later, he lost the title to Kingston at SmackDown on January 4, 2011. On June 19, 2011, Dolph Ziggler won his first United States Championship by defeating his opponent in a Capitol Punishment match and retained it against Kingston on RAW. He would eventually lose it to Zack Ryder.

Dolph Ziggler continued to battle in prime events against big names like , Sheamus, CM Punk, and The Great Khali. On November 18, 2012, Ziggler emerged the only survivor at a Survivor Series match by pinning Randy Orton. The wrestler also won his second World Heavy Weight Championship title against Alberto Del Rio when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to face Del Rio who was injured at the time.

After a legitimate concussion that put Dolph Ziggler on a one-month absence from television, he returned to unsuccessfully defend his heavyweight championship against Del Rio. In a 2014 Survivor Series, Dolph Ziggler again emerged as the sole survivor against the likes of Kane, Triple H, and . In December 2014 he was named 2014 WWE Wrestler of the Year by Rolling Stones magazine.

Dolph Ziggler continued to fight his way to the top by facing the likes of Mark Henry, King Barrett, Sheamus, , Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Kane, and John Cena. In June 2015, he was given time off from his wrestling duties after he sustained a bruised trachea in a scripted attack by Rusev. This gave him time to star in the movie 6:42 by WWE Studios.

In December 2017, at a Clash of Champions event, Dolph triumphed over Bobby Roode and Baron Corbin to clinch his second United States Championship. However, a week later, during a celebration of his WWE career, the wrestler asserted that the fans are not deserving of him before exiting the ring, leaving the title belt behind.

The wrestler’s non-wrestling engagements include a 2009 appearance on the American game show Deal or No Deal. He was also on George Lopez’s talk show Lopez Tonight in August 2010. Dolph Ziggler is also a regular on WWE video games as a playable character since 2010.

The pro-wrestler is not married and has never been. However, he has a well-documented relationship with female professional wrestler and reality television star . Nikki was a longtime girlfriend to John Cena. They were even engaged – John Cena proposed to her in the ring – for a year before they cut things off. However, before ever came into the picture, Ziggler and Bella had been together since 2008 before they broke it off some years later.
