Ed Westwick was born Edward Jack Peter Westwick on June 27, 1989, in Hammersmith, London by Carole and Peter Westrick. His mother, Carole, was an educational physiologist whereas his dad was a practicing lecturer. An academic family you might say and you would be right. He is the third child of the family with his other siblings being two elder brothers whose information – identities and occupations – are not known.

He is of English descent and even though he hailed from an academic family, he didn’t choose a career like his parents but went ahead to find his own passion: music and film. Before his career in both began, he attended The Barclay School in Stevenage, Hertfordshire where he was raised. It is interesting to note that by the age of six, Ed Westwick began attending music lessons and drama classes.

After his education at The Barclay School, he furthered his education at North Hertfordshire College. However, he did not attain a degree from this college but took A’ levels or pre-university exams in communication, law, and business.

Career

Ed Westrick began his entertainment career with acting and is most famous for it. Prior to his debut movie in 2006, he attended the National Youth Theatre in London. His first movie appearance was in the movie Breaking and Entering as Zoran. He got this gig as a result of his success in an audition for cast sent to his theatre.

After this movie, he featured in others such as a minor role in Children of Men as Alex. While working on films, Ed was also featuring in British television series such as Doctors, Casualty, and AfterLife.

The following year was very eventful for the young actor as he secured his breakthrough role. Before he starred in the series Gossip Girl which he is most known for, he featured in Son of Rambow as Lawrence Carter. He rose to fame when he appeared in the TV series Gossip Girl. It was an adaptation of the novel Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar. He featured in the movie as Charles ‘Chuck’ Bass and had to take up an American accent. He starred on the show for about three years, appearing on a total of 107 episodes.

This series as has been said earlier, was the game changer for Ed Westwick. He was listed as one of the Sexiest Men Alive in 2008 in People’s Magazine and among the 100 Most Beautiful in the following year as a result of his work in the series. In 2017, Ed played the role of Ben Collins in The Crash. He also featured in two television series in that year, one was the animated sitcom, Family Guy and the other, Snatch as Sonny Castillo. In music, Ed has not been so successful. He is part of a punk band called The Filthy Youth. The band was formed in 2006 and has released singles such as Orange and Come Flash All You Ladies. These songs were used in the popular American series, Gossip Girls.
