During the era of classical Hollywood cinema, stars like Elizabeth Taylor who is known for her role as Cleopatra in the historical epic film Cleopatra were the screen legends. Taylor also evolved with Hollywood into the new age where paparazzi photography became the order of the day and she simply continued to be famous for being famous. 1. Conrad ‘Nicky’ Hilton

Taylor’s first marriage was to Conrad Nicky Hilton Jr., who was an heir to the Hilton Hotels chain in Beverly Hills. The wedding ceremony held on May 6th, 1960 was said to be a very expensive one and the event was a major media focus. But in less than a year, the marriage hit the rocks as she revealed that her husband was abusive and she was granted a divorce in January 1951.

2. Michael Wilding

Second on the husband list is the British actor, Michael Wilding whom she married in 1952 but divorced him five years later in 1957. The cause of their separation and eventual divorce was said to be as a result of Michael’s failing career and rumor also had it that he entertained strippers in their home when Taylor was out filming. Taylor had two sons with him named Michael and Christopher.

3. Michael Todd

Taylor’s got married to her third husband, Mike Todd a theatre and film producer in February 1957 and that same year had a daughter for him named Elizabeth. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 1958 not because of a divorce but as a result of a fatal plane crash on March 22, 1958, that claimed Todd’s life.

4. Eddie Fisher

Heartbroken Taylor found solace in the arms of a friend of hers and Todd who was the singer, Eddie Fisher. Fisher and Taylor started an affair which resulted to him divorcing his wife, actress Debbie Reynolds, to marry Taylor in 1959. Taylor later revealed that she married Fisher because she was heartbroken by 1962 they started drifting apart and in 1964 she was granted a divorce from him.

  

5. Richard Burton

Among all of her husbands, Richard Burton was described as the tempestuous lover of Taylor. The pair started an affair while on set for the movie Cleopatra in 1962 when they were both still married to different people. After she was granted a divorce in 1964 and Burton was also free, the pair got married that same year but the marriage ended 10 years later in 1974.

6. Richard Burton

If you are wondering whether it is the same Burton, yes he is. The pair tried to get back together after what they called a reconciliation and even re-married in Kasane, Botswana in October 1975 but the marriage crashed again in less than a year.

7. John Warner

Taylor’s 7th marriage was to the Republican politician John Warner whom she married on December 4, 1976. Taylor was excited to become a politicians wife but after a while, she found it very boring and was said to have suffered from loneliness and depression which led to her becoming overweight and addicted to prescribed drugs. The pair separated in 1981 and by November 1982, their divorce was finalized.

8. Larry Fortensky

The actress’s last and eight husband was a construction worker named Larry Fortensky whom she married in 1991 but later divorced in October 1996.

Taylor’s Other Hookups And Boyfriends

In spite of her 8 marriages and 7 husbands, Taylor was also known to have had a long list of other men in her life that started back in 1948 with Glenn Davies, a football champion who she dated for less than a year, followed by William Pawley, Jr. the son of U.S. ambassador William D. Pawley as at then whom she was engaged to for only a short time.

After the divorce from John Warner, Taylor dated actor Anthony Geary and later she got engaged to Mexican lawyer, Victor Luna which lasted for only a year – ending in 1984. The next year, the beautiful actress caught the eyes of a New York businessman named Dennis Stein.
