Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frèderic Macron was born on the 21st of December 1977 in Amiens to Jean-Michel and Francois Macron. His father is a Professor of Neurology while his mother works as a physician. Emmanuel has two siblings, a brother – Laurent, and a sister – Estelle.
Though raised in a nonreligious home, the French politician got baptized at the age of 12 on his behest. Despite this, Emmanuel is presently an Agnostic.
Growing up, he repeatedly visited his grandmother, Germaine Noguès; and through her, he developed a strong love for the arts. He also credits his grandmother with his love for reading and his political leanings.
Education
Displaying a rather high intellect, Emmanuel Macron attended the Jesuit Lycée la Providence in Amiens before transferring to the prestigious Lycée Henri-IV in Paris where he furthered his education. As expected, Macron graduated with high grades and was nominated for the Concours Général – the most selective national level high school competition in French literature. He also received a diploma for his piano studies at Amiens Conservatory.
The future President of France applied to the École normale supérieure, an elite higher education establishment, twice but was refused admission on both occasions. He then opted to attend the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre La Défense instead, attaining a DEA degree in Philosophy.
In 1999, Emmanuel Macron, who actively pursued learning, worked as an editorial assistant to Paul Ricoeur, the French Protestant Philosopher who was then writing his last notable work, La Mémoire, l’Histoire, l’Oubli. He also became a member of the editorial board of the literary magazine Esprit.
After a time, Macron then went on to complete a Master’s degree in Public Guidance and Economy at The Paris Institute of Political Studies. After which he commenced training for a senior civil service career at the École Nationale D’Administration (ENA); he trained at an embassy in Nigeria and in an office in the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto in Canad (Oise) before graduating in 2004.

Emmanuel Macron’s career spans many successes; from acting in high school plays to becoming an inspector at the Inspection Générale des Finances (IGF), a branch of the Finance Ministry in France. He later accepted a higher paying job as an investment banker at Rothschild and Cie Banque. His job at Rothschild and Cie Banque was so lucrative that by the time he left in 2012 he had earned over €3 million.
Back in 2006, Emmanuel Macron had met François Hollande but did not join his staff until 2010. Two years later when François Hollande became president, he became the Deputy Secretary General of the Élysée, a senior role in the President’s staff.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Minister of Economy and Finance, replacing Arnaud Montebourg and in the process, becoming the youngest Minister of the Economy since 1962. Emmanuel, who was a member of the Socialist Party, left the part in August 2015 and became independent. A year later, in August 2016, he resigned from his position in government ahead of the 2017 election. In November 2016, he formally declared his intention to run for office. Several international politicians supported his run for presidency including former US President , German Chancellor , and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
After a successful campaign, Emmanuel Macron emerged as the winner of the 2017 presidential elections in France. He assumed office on 14th of May, 2017.
