Eva Ionesco is a French actress, model, filmmaker, and screenwriter who from childhood has always been in the spotlight. She started her acting career when she was 11 years old, before then, however, she had even begun posing for the camera as a model. From when she was 4 years old up until she was 12, she was her mother’s favorite model, posing in provocative manners. Eva Ionesco is the youngest model ever to have featured on the popular adult magazine Playboy. Her first appearance on the Playboy magazine was when she was only 11 years old.

Eva Ionesco Biography

French actress and film director Eva Ionesco was born on July 18, 1965, in the French capital city of Paris. She grew up in her birth city and has been a popular figure right since her childhood days.

Eva Ionesco’s parents are Irina Ionesco and Miklos Berlnyi. Her mother is a popular photographer born in Paris on September 3, 1930, to Romanian immigrants.

Her mother made it customary that for the fact that she is a photographer, Eva had to be the main subject of her works. As a kid, she had no say on what her mother imposed on her and had very little room for an argument. Without her rightful consent, Irina Ionesco would take sensitive photos of her daughter, and it started from when Eva was only four years old. Eva Ionesco didn’t just model for her mother alone, she also modeled for other photographers as well, one of which was the popular French nude photographer Jacques Bourboulon. The pictures of the young Eva appearing nude in several publications brought up controversies but it also brought in movie opportunities for the young model.

In October 1976, Eva became the youngest model ever to cover and appear on the Playboy magazine. She also appeared nude on the cover page of the October 1976 Italian issue. Two years later, her nude pictures once again appeared in another adult magazine, this time in the November 1978 Spanish edition of Penthouse. Her picture was also used on the cover page on an edition of the German magazine Der Spiegel.

Even as much as the pictures of young Eva Ionesco that appeared in many publications and adult magazines were unpleasant, it did her one good, helping her secure film roles. She starred in her first film, The Tenant in 1976. In the film, she was cast as MmeGaderian’s daughter, Bettina. The following year, she played the main role as Silvia in Pier Giuseppe Murgia’s film, Maladolescenza. The film was largely criticized for its numerous sex scenes which featured child actresses in it and for that, it got banned by major countries.

In 1977, her mother lost custody of her and she was adopted by Roger and Irene Louboutin, the parents of the famous French fashion designer Christian Louboutin.

She landed various acting roles in the 80s and 90s some of which include Meurtres à domicile (1981), Les Nanas (1984), L’amoureuse (1987), Chant de guerre parisien (1991), Comment font les gens? (1992), Pullman paradis (1995), Liberté chérie (1996), La patinoire (1999) and many more others in the beginning of the new millenium.

Eva started directing movies in 2006. The first film she directed was La LoIde la Forêt. In 2010, she directed My Little Princess. The film was largely inspired by Eva Ionesco’s real-life relationship with her mother Irina Ionesco. Eva also co-wrote the film which starred Isabelle Huppert as Hanna Giurgiu, the photographer who uses her underage daughter as a tool for her erotic photographs.

Once again Eva Ionesco and Isabelle Huppert worked together, this time in the 2019 film directed by Ionesco, titled Golden Youth. The film is the third film Eva Ionesco has directed.

She is married to French writer and journalist, Simon Liberati. The couple tied the knot on December 8, 2013, in Paris, France. Simon was born in Paris, France, on May 12, 1960. As a writer, he has written seven books. He wrote a book in 2015 titled Eva. The book tells of his wife’s childhood and also their relationship together.

Eva Ionesco has a son named Lucas Ionesco. She had Lucas from one of her past relationships and raised him as a single mother before she met Simon Liberati. Lucas was born on January 28, 1995, and he has grown to become a French actor.
