Eve Mavrakis’ Bio

For the foreseeable future, at least until something major happens in her career, Eve Mavrakis will come to be defined by her relationship to Ewan McGregor, but before she became the wife of the British actor, she was a notable production designer who worked on movie sets. Eve had been born on the 22nd of June, 1966 in Dordogne, France. She was born into a Jewish family who had immigrated to France and she also has Greek roots. She is said to be of Greek-Sephardi Jewish origin.

Not much is known of her life before she got into the film industry, with details of her education and family background currently unknown. The extent of public information about her started with her life as an adult when she worked as an assistant art director on the Oscar-winning film, Dangerous Liaisons. As a result of her Chinese background, having lived in the Asian country for a period during her youth, Eve Mavrakis worked with on Empire of the Sun, a 1987 film.

She proved her competency working on those films, and so she was made the art director for an episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1993. In the following year, Eve Mavrakis became a production designer for the film, Bandit Queen. Other films Eve Mavrakis has worked on include Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels which was released in 1998, Innocent Sleep which was released in 1996 and Imagine Me & You, a 2005 film.

While for most of her filmography (which lasted for most of the 90s and the early 2000s) she worked as an art director and production designer, a lot of those films were simply jobs to her. One project that certainly changed her life was working on the British television show, Kavanagh QC. It was on the show that she met Ewan McGregor, who would later go on and become her husband.

Acting Career

Eve Mavrakis spent most of her film career behind the scenes as a production designer and art director, but a couple times, she made it on to the front of the camera, starring in the television shows, Long Way Round and Long Way Down.

Family – Spouse, Children

According to the couple at the time, they were still in love, Ewan, who had a notorious reputation of being a womanizer fell in love the moment he laid his eyes on Eve Mavrakis. The two met on the set of the show in 1995 and started dating not long after. They eventually got married on the 22nd of July, 1995, a month after Eve’s birthday.

For the most part, their marriage was great. Having gotten married in a French village, their romance was bolstered by the arrival of their first child, Clara Mathilde in 1996. The couple would later go on to have three more girls, two biological and one adopted daughter. Their biological children, Esther Rose and Anouk were born in 2001 and 2011 respectively, and the couple adopted their fourth child in June 2001.

Because of his charm and excellent looks, Ewan has often been linked to his female co-stars, but nothing was concrete and damaging until he starred in Fargo and met Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The two, who were the leads on the show connected and were caught locking lips in a café in October 2017.

The controversy from the picture led to an infamous Instagram post from Eve’s oldest daughter, Clara Mathilde who called Mary Winstead a ‘piece of trash’. As a result of the incident, the couple got separated, with McGregor filing for a divorce in January 2018 and an eventual divorce in May 2018. Eve Mavrakis currently lives in Europe along with her daughters.
