Eve Myles Biography

Eve Myles was born in Ystradgynlais on the 26th day of July 1978. She went to school at Ysgol Maes Y Dderwen with fellow future actors; Richard Corgan and Steve Meo as her classmates. As weird as it sounds, Eve Myles could have probably by now been an MMA fighter had her aspirations of a boxing career hadn’t been truncated by a knuckle injury.

Myles would later attend the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where she earned a BA in Acting in 2000, after which she relocated to London to better her chances at a successful acting career.

Eve Myles got her start on TV, landing small parts in shows like Nuts and Bolts. Later in 2000, Myles got her first major gig; the part of Ceri Owens in the BBC drama Belonging. She would go on to play the part for 9 years, ending in 2009. As of the time of this writing, that duration is the longest that Myles has ever had on a single role, it could pass for her signature role.

During her breaks from the show, Eve Myles proved her versatility by taking up other projects. This would include roles in EastEnders: Dot’s Story, Colditz, and of course Doctor Who. After her character on Doctor Who became one of the leads in the spinoff Torchwood, it was clear that the end of her Belonging days was near.

Three years into Torchwood, Myles left Belonging. Her part in Torchwood lasted for 5 successful years bringing her critical acclaim than any other part she’d ever played. The role brought her the 2007 BAFTA Cymru for Best Actress – the first award of her career. She also earned the SFX Award for Best Actress alongside a couple of other coveted award nominations.

During her time on Belongings, Myles made time to also appear as a guest on other shows including Merlin, Little Dorrit, and A Bit of Tom Jones.

Though Torchwood came to an end on TV in 2011, it continued on the radio from 2015 with Myles still reprising her role. As of the time of this writing, it continues to air on the radio. However, that hasn’t been her only radio show, others include; Under Milk Wood (2014), Blind Terror: The Gods of Frost, 19 Weeks, and more. Eve Myles had been doing radio voice acting from 2008 before Torchwood came to radio.

Besides playing roles in film and television, Myles has also performed plays in theatre. She is equally revered for her career in theater. Some of the plays she has featured in include The Taming of the Strew (2003), Henry IV (2005), and All New People (2012). Myles narrated two audiobooks. She narrated Dan Abnett’s Border Princes in 2007 and Joseph Lidster’s In the Shadows 2009.

Eve Myles is one pretty woman, standing at 5 feet 6 inches (1.71 m) in height (she weighs approximately 60 kg). She has featured on several 50 sexiest women in Wales annual lists published by the Western Mail.

Eve Myles is married to actor, Bradley Freegard. They initially met for the first time at the National Youth Theatre in 1994. Eve Myles has two children with her husband. Their first daughter, Matilda, was born in 2009, 4 years before they were married. Their second daughter was born in 2014. The fourth series of Torchwood was shot in Hollywood and this prompted Myles and her family to relocate to California for a year. She has mentioned that it was the best year of her life and she would love to return to Hollywood in the future.
