Francisco Lindor is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player who plays as a shortstop for the Cleveland Indians of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was the first Puerto Rican shortstop to win the Gold Glove Award. Lindor is also known for his stellar defense at shortstop and for owning possibly, the best smile at baseball which earned him the sobriquet Mr. Smile.

Francisco was ranked as Indians top prospect in 2013 and has not only gone ahead to make true the prediction but has surpassed it by far.

Francisco Lindor Bio (Age)

The Indians shortstop was born on the 14th day of November 1993 in Caguas, Puerto Rico as Francisco Miguel Lindor. Always marked with a wide grin, he was nicknamed Mr. Smile by those close to him and Paquito (a nickname for people named Francisco in Spanish speaking countries).

Francisco was obviously born with the talent of a top player and didn’t take long after his birth to show it. At a young age of 4, his father helped him to play and learn the basic skills of baseball. He would move to the US, Central Florida at the age of 12 probably to hone his skills and find a better ground for his talent.

While in his new home, he attended the Montverde Academy prep school in Montverde, Florida where he proved his skills and garnered a number of accolades which include being recognized as one of the best high school baseball players by USA Today. He was subsequently named to their All-USA high school baseball team. Francisco Lindor’s contributions to the school’s sports (baseball) history, as well as his standout performances, inspired the school to name their baseball facility after him in 2013.

The Puerto Rican was drafted in the first round as the eighth overall pick by the Cleveland Indians in the 2011 MLB draft. He was going to play collegiate baseball on a full-ride scholarship with the Seminoles baseball team of Florida State University before he decided to sign a contract with the Indians.

Shortly after he made his professional debut in June 2015, he won the American League (AL) Rookie of the Month Award for September, during which he batted .362. His career though seemingly short has seen him earn craved awards such as the 2016 Esurance MLB award for Best Defensive Player, the Gold Glove Award and Platinum Glove Award in the same year, and his first Silver Slugger Award in 2017. He came second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2015 and earned his first All-Star selection in 2016.

In addition to helping his team reach the 2016 World Series, Francisco Lindor was selected to the 2017 All-WBC Team on the national front by his home country.

His Family, Parents; Wife or Girlfriend?

Paquito was born into a family that loves and plays baseball. As such, he grew up wanting to be like his elder brother and his cousin who played the game. Francisco is the third of four children born to his parents, Miguel Angel Lindor (father) and Maria Serrano (mother). He moved to the United States at the age of 12 with his father, stepmother, and youngest sibling, a sister who was handicapped. They were later joined by his mother and two older siblings in August 2011 after he signed with the Indians.

Francisco that the major reason his family migrated was for the sake of his handicapped sister. He is obviously a family oriented man and has said that his family is everything to him.

Francisco Lindor would feel comfortable dating any girl but would rather go for a Latina anytime. Apparently, he enjoys the resonance that comes from sharing, be it a joke or whatever, in one’s native language and has said that there is this difference when a joke is told in Spanish and when it is told in English.

True to his desires, he found the perfect match for him in Nilmarie Huertas; she was born on August 9, 1991. Nilmarie’s brother, David Huertas plays professional basketball with the Puerto Rico National team.

She attended Petra Mercado Bougart and then Florida State College in Jacksonville, Florida. To the best of our knowledge, Nilmarie studied English education at the Caribbean University and taught at Colegio Calvados in Bayamon, Puerto Rico for some time. The two are yet to get married.

Lindor’s Height

Francisco has been able to maintain a fine athletic body which is only a plus to his career. He stands 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) and weighs 190 pounds (86 kg).
