Biography

Gia Mantegna was born Gina Cristine Mantegna to Arlene (née Vrhel) and Joe Mantegna on the 17th of April, 1990, in Manhattan, New York, although she was raised in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is a restaurateur while her father is an actor.

It is not clear where Mantegna received her education, however, she was a trained gymnast and ballerina at a very young age. She also beautifully honed her singing skills and learned how to play the piano and saxophone. At around the age of 13, Mantegna was able to make her acting debut in the film Uncle Nino (2003), which also starred her father. The following year, she appeared in the romantic comedy, 13 Going On 30 (2004) before appearing in the television film Murder Book (2005).

Gia Mantegna’s performances in her early projects landed her the role of Grace Conrad in the Warner Brothers’ Christmas comedy film, Unaccompanied Minors (2006). She subsequently went on to appear in All I Want for Christmas (2007), The Neighbor (2007), And Soon the Darkness (2010), and Gigantic (2010-2011). In 2011, she starred in the romantic comedy, Getting That Girl, and the Spanish horror film, Apartment 143. Other films in which she went on to appear in include Empire State (2013), The Frozen Ground (2013), California Scheming (2014), and Ask Me Anything (2014). In recent times, she has had recurring roles on The Middle (2014-217) and Under the Dome (2015)

As mentioned above, actor Joe Mantegna and his wife, Arlene Vrhel, who he wedded on the 3rd of October, 1975, are the parents of Gia. Mia famously once appeared alongside her father on TV in support of Autism Awareness Month.

Joe Mantegna, who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but is of Italian, Apulian and Sicilian descent, began his acting career in 1969. After having made a name for himself in stage performance, the actor moved to film acting, making his debut in the critically acclaimed film, Medusa Challenger (1977). He has since gone ahead to put in other notable performances in films like Three Amigos (1986), House of Games (1987), Things Change (1988), The Godfather Part III (1990), Homicide (1991), Forget Paris (1995), and Up Close and Personal (1996) among many others.
