Gucci Mane – Bio, Wiki
He was born on February 12, 1980, as Radric Delantic Davis to a former U.S serviceman and power plant worker Ralph Everett Dudley and a social worker and teacher, Vicky Jean Davis. His family has a strong military background as his paternal and maternal grandfathers both served in the military and so did his father.
Gucci Mane took his mother’s last name ‘Davis’ because, at the time of his birth, his father was on the run for drug-related charges that he was not there to sign his (Gucci Mane) birth certificate. Radric was her second child as she already had a son from a previous relationship before she met Dudley in 1978.
He was raised partly by his mother and paternal grandmother. While his mom was in college for her degree, his paternal grandmother had to help bring him up.
Davis attended McNair High School, he graduated in 1998 and in the same year, he got HOPE scholarship to Georgia Perimeter College to do a computer programming course, he rarely attended classes and was soon kicked out of the College in 2001.
Gucci had a flair for writing and took to writing early. He also enjoyed rap music that by the age of 14 he was already rapping. By 2005, he released his independent debut album Trap House, featuring the successful single Icy with Young Jeezy.
His next album Hard to Kill came in 2006. The album included hit songs like Freaky Gurl which peaked at #12 on the Hot Rap Tracks, #19 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and at #62 on the Hot 100. For the remix of the song, Gucci Mane featured Ludacris and Lil Kim.
In 2009, Gucci Mane was named #6 on MTV’s annual Hottest MC’s In The Game list.
Murder Charges, Imprisonment
In 2005, just before the release of his debut album Trap House, Davis was arrested and charged to court for killing Clark – an upcoming rapper from Macon, Georgia.
On the day that Clark was killed, Mane was said to have been visiting a female friend in Decatur when four men — all of them dressed in black burst into her apartment and attacked him.
Gunshots of course followed, the men fled the scene but Clark’s corpse was later found at a nearby middle school.
In court, Mane admitted shooting at his assailants but maintained he acted in self-defence. Due to insufficient evidence, the court in 2006 dropped the murder charge against him. But, while the case was on, Mane was charged with assaulting a nightclub promoter and sentenced to six months in prison but was released in January 2006 – three months after. Mane obviously didn’t abide by his parole conditions and was arrested in 2008 for violation.
He was sentenced to a year in jail but was released after six months. Again in 2009, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for probation violation.
Gucci Mane – Married, Wife, Girlfriend
Mane got married to his longtime girlfriend and the woman he considers his first true love Keyshia Ka’oir in October 2017. The couple met in 2010 and for Mane, it was love at first sight. Keyshia Ka’oir has stood by her man through his in and out of prison periods.
Davis proposed to her in 2016 after performing at a basketball game for the Atlanta Hawks and on October 19, 2017, the couple tied the knots in the presence of friends and family members. Before his marriage to Keyshia Ka’oir, Mane has been linked with other ladies like Masika Kalysha, Sheneka Adams, and .
He was also rumoured to have hooked up with Mya. Davis disclosed in his autobiography released in 2017 that he has a ten-year-old son from a previous relationship.
