Gus Trikonis is a multi-talented filmmaker and his works and services to Hollywood will continue to stand as an inspiration to the up-and-coming generations. Through Gus, the true definition of multi-talent is found. He was and still is a mentor to the younger filmmakers in the industry today. His role in the film industry during his 42 active years as a filmmaker was as an actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and television director. Gus Trikonis – Biography

Gus Trikonis is an American dancer, actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in Manhattan, New York, on November 21, 1937. Gus has a younger sister with whom he was raised. His younger sister, Gina Trikonis, is also into the acting business as well and that makes us wonder if really acting runs in the family’s bloodline. However, his parents’ names and occupations are not known.

Gina was born on January 2, 1939, in New York, the same place her elder brother was born. She is best known for her roles in West Side Story (1961), 13 Frightened Girls (1963) and in Farmer’s Daughter (1963).

Before going into acting, Gus attended City College in New York but dropped out of the college just after his sophomore year. It was during this time that he decided to venture into acting.

Gus Trikonis began his entertainment career as an actor and dancer and he featured in his first film in 1961, where he played as Indio in the American romantic musical drama film West Side Story. It eventually became his most popular film role.

His next film role came in 1964 when he starred in the American musical metro color film The Sinkable Molly Brown. He was cast as Joe in the film. Next for him was as a Pajama boy in the 1964 film Pajama Party. In 1966, Gus then starred in the American war film titled The Sand Pebbles, playing the role of Restorff in the film directed by Robert Wise. In the following year, Gus played the role of Rio in The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, a film based on the 1929 mass murder of seven members of the Northside Gang in Chicago. In 1968, Gus featured in his final film role, being cast as Scorpio in The Hellcats.

Shortly after Gus stepped away from acting, he immediately shifted to working behind the scenes as a director. He directed his first film in 1969, an American action film titled Side Hackers. Trikonis went on to direct other films such as Supercock (1975), The Swinging Barmaids (1975), Touched by Love (1980), Elvis and the Beauty Queen (1981) and Take this Job and Share it (1981). Gus also directed TV series such as Hunter (1984), Twilight Zone (1985), Wise Guy (1987), Baywatch (1989), Quantum Leap (1989), The Flash (1999) and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995).

Currently, Gus isn’t married to anyone but he has been married twice in the past. His first wife was Goldie Hawn. The pair first met in 1966 when they were both chorus dancers in Anaheim. They got married in 1969 but got divorced in 1976 without bearing any child together. Just like Gus, Goldie is not just an actress, but also a well-known singer and producer.

 

After his divorce with Goldie, he went on to marry Barbara Andrews in 1978. It was with Barbara that he had his only child, a son named Nicholas Trikonis. Nicholas was born on July 3, 1981, in Los Angeles, California. Nicholas is also into the filmmaking as a cinematographer and is known for his works in Eat Me (2008), Dryland (2015) and Kill Me, Deadly (2015). Following the death of Nicholas’s mother in 2012, his father remained a widower till this day.
