Celine Dion’s Age, How Old Is She?

On March 30, 2019, the French-Canadian singer celebrated her 51st birthday. She was born on the aforementioned date in 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada as the youngest in a family of 16. Though things were tough for the family financially, Celine’s parents (Thérèse, a homemaker, and Adhémar Dion, a butcher) created a happy environment for their children. She grew up in a Roman Catholic home where music is held at high esteem.

At the age of five, she performed Christine Charbonneau’s song “Du fil des Aiguilles et du Coton” at her brother’s wedding. At this early stage, she was already nursing the dreams of becoming a professional singer and started small by performing with her siblings in her parents’ small piano bar called Le Vieux Baril (The Old Barrel).

Career Achievements

Penned alongside her mother and brother Jacques, Celine’s first song, Ce n’était qu’un rêve (It Was Only a Dream or Nothing But A Dream) turned her into an instant star following the release of her first album, La voix du Bon Dieu, on November 6, 1981. While her fame started locally, Dion refused to limit her potentials, thus she learned how to speak English and released her debut English-language album titled Unison. The 1980s and 1990s cemented her stance as a star in North America, as well as other English-speaking parts of the world with the release of several hits. Some of her memorable songs are Falling into You (1996) Let’s Talk About Love (1997), The Power of Love (1984), and I’m Your Angel (1998).

After several years of releasing classical music, the Canadian songstress bagged five Grammy Awards. Additionally, Billboard named her the “Queen of Adult Contemporary”, a feat she achieved for having the most number ones on the radio format for a female artist. During the Nielsen SoundScan era, she became the second best-selling female artist in the US. She was honored by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in 2003 for selling more than 50 million albums in Europe. To date, she is still named among the best-selling artists of all time, thanks to her record sale of 200 million copies worldwide. Of course, she remains a best-selling artist in her home country. And considering Celine Dion’s age, one can not rule out the possibility of her bagging more accomplishment in the industry.
