In modern media, the biggest films are those that are based on characters who were taken from comics, and Marvel Comics have had a huge success in this regard with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But there are superheroes that have been featured in television shows and films even before the current wave of superhero films that sprung up in the 2000s; one of these superheroes is Hulk. The History of the Incredible Hulk Character
The character of the Hulk was created by the now late and Jack Kirby who is also dead. The first comic that featured the Hulk was the issue of The Incredible Hulk which was released in May of 1962. This character is one that is made up of two identities; one is the physicist Dr. Bruce Banner and the Hulk who is the alter ego of Banner. Banner is a weaker version of the two and the Hulk came to be as a result of a failed experiment.
There had been a detonation of a gamma bomb and Banner in an attempt to save a teenager who had driven into the testing field, got exposed to rays from the detonated bomb. The effects of the exposure occurred at night and a soldier who was pursuing him dubbed him Hulk. The hulk only appears when Banner has been angered and his existence is built on the abuse he suffered as a kid.
While Banner is weak and helpless the Hulk balances off this weakness with his strength. The Hulk is one of the most popular comic superheroes and there is a lot of paraphernalia that features the character, these include theme parks, clothes, video games, and more importantly, movies.

Hulk (2003)
This is the first feature film that features the character of the Hulk and Bruce Banner. This film was released on the 20th of June, 2003 and Eric Bana played the Hulk. This film chronicles the origin of the character and the tumultuous relationship he has with his father. The film was a box office success making $245.4 million on a budget of $137 million.
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
In 2008, a new Hulk movie was released and this time it was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it happened to be the second film made to be a part of this universe. who had shown interest in acting in the 2003 Hulk movie was cast to play the titular character; this film is another version of the Hulk’s origin story.
The Avengers (2012)
By 2012, four years after The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers was released and with it came a change in the actor who played Hulk. was cast to replace Norton and he is the face that has come to be recognized with the character. In this movie, the Hulk was a major catalyst for the events that ensued and he became a part of the Avengers (earth’s mightiest heroes).
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
The scientific brilliance of Bruce Banner is explored in this 2015 movie, as he helped in the creation of Ultron a peacekeeping android who went rogue and decided to destroy the world. It is in this film that the relationship he has with the character Black Widow is explored.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
After the events in Age of Ultron, the Hulk, disgusted by his behavior and the destruction he left in his path, decides to run away, but he lands on the planet of Sakaar and becomes the champion of that planet.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Raising the number of Hulk movies to 5 was Avengers: Infinity War. The MCU had been building up to a certain event since the first film they made for this universe and Infinity War is the event they were building up to. One of the fights the Hulk gets into terrifies him and for the remainder of the movie, he hides from all the fighting. Infinity War is another part of Bruce Banner’s journey in finding a version of himself that he is most comfortable with.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
In this Hulk movie, Bruce Banner and the Hulk found a way to unite their identities into one and this was instrumental in the victory that the Avengers had. Endgame was a tremendous success both critically and commercially. It grossed over $2.7 billion at the global box office beating Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie of all time which in turn makes it the most successful of the hulk movies.
