Ian Kinsler is one of the top sportsmen of American heritage. He is a professional baseball player who is currently signed to the Boston Red Sox of the Major League Baseball (MLB), where he plays as a second baseman. Before the Red Sox, he had played for teams such as the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles, and Texas Ranger, where his performance earned him the All-Star title four times in his career.

Ian Kinsler – Bio, Age

Ian Michael Kinsler was born in Tucson, Arizona, on the 22nd of June 1982. He was raised as a Jew because of his Jewish father, Howard Kinsler. Ian had major influences from Howard who once played basketball in the University of Arizona and also worked as a state prison’s warden. At a very young age, his dad began coaching him in the sport and was a strict coach. Ian remembers when he was 13 years old and his father was giving a few instructions to him and his teammates who were a PONY league team preparing for a championship, Ian rolled his eyes which caused his father to bench him for the next game. This he admits made him humble.

In terms of education, Ian Kinsler was enrolled into the Canyon del Oro High School located in the Suburb of Tucson, Oro Valley, Arizona. Whilst in school, between 1997 and 2000, he helped lead the baseball team to state titles. When he was a senior, he earned himself second-team All-League honors with a .380 hit, as well as a .504 hit with a total of five home runs, paired with 26 stolen bases.

Collegiate Career   

In 2000, right out of high school, the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Kinsler in the 29th round. However, he declined the offer as he desired to play college football first before going pro. On that note, he gained admission into the Central Arizona College where he played collegiate baseball. In the process, he was able to hit 24 stolen bases, 37 RBIs and .405 with 17 doubles.

He also got the chance to play shortstop with future players such as Rich Harden, Scott Hairston e.tc. and earned himself a second-team All-ACCAC. Due to his impressive performance, The Diamondbacks went ahead to draft Ian on the 26th round draft in 2001, regardless of this, Ian Kinsler declined yet again stating that he believed that playing baseball in college a little longer would help improve his game a whole lot.

Professional Career

Ian Kinsler finally entered the draft of 2003 and was chosen by The Diamondbacks was. Having played for 3 years, he was traded to the Ranger as a starting base making his major league debut on the 3rd of April of the same year in the game against the Boston Red Sox. It also happened to be the game in which he hit his first major league “at bat.’

He was then traded to the Detroit Tigers in November 2013, a move which occurred from a one-for-one trade of All-Stars. The next trade was to the Los Angeles Angels, on the 13th of December 2017 and later on the 30th of July 2018, Ian signed up with the Boston Red Sox.

Personal Life – Wife

Ian Kinsler is a man who left bachelorhood a long time as he is happily married to his lovely wife Tess Brady. Interestingly, Ian and Tess met a long time ago when they were in high school and were together until the year 2006 (November 18th) when the took the bold leap to become man and wife at a simple gathering of close family members and friends.

Together, they have two wonderful children, a daughter, named Rian Brooklyn Kinsler, born on the 5th of December 2008 and a son, Jack  Jamisson Kinsler, born on the 8th of June 2011. Their love story is quite a unique one which shows no sign packing up any time soon even after 12 years of marriage.
