Moreso, Glass has had an overwhelming year so far at the box office, grossing a massive $247 million on a $20 million budget. What Is The Connection Between Glass And Unbreakable?
The American superhero film, Unbreakable, is the first film under the Unbreakable trilogy which was released in the year 2000. In the film, David Dunn which was portrayed by Bruce Willis suddenly develops some superpowers after he survived a train accident. The crash is known to have been planned and executed by another character named Elijah Price otherwise known as Mr. Glass. The latter is the supervillain of the movie while David Dunn is the film’s superhero.
In the follow-up sequel, Split, three young girls are abducted by a certain unknown man with 24 different personalities. The identity of the man was later revealed as Kevin Wendell Crumb. Later on, Glass brings all the three main characters from the previous two films into one film. The trio of David Dunn, Elijah Price, and Kevin Crumb are all admitted into a mental facility in a bid to cure their superhero fantasies. A fight ensues between all three of them in a bid to prove to the entire world that their supposed delusions were actually a reality.
Glass abruptly ends with Price, Dunn, and Crumb killed by a secret group with a mission to eliminate all persons with superpowers, irrespective of whatever sides they are on. The cabal tasked with the objective was headed by a certain Dr. Ellie Staple which was portrayed by popular American actress, Sarah Paulson.
Another connection that Unbreakable has with Glass is that the colors associated with the three different characters are maintained throughout the film. David Dunn is known to favor the color green; Elijah Price has a flair for purple while Kevin Crumbs is known to wear a yellow color whenever he changes into his beast form. Dr. Staple, all through the duration of Glass was known to favor pink.
Furthermore, many followers of the Unbreakable series may or may not know this but Shyalaman, the writer and director of all three films, actually featured as an actor in all of them. He appears as one of the first victims of Dunn in the first film then he was seen as a landlord in both Split and Glass.
