Sacha Baron Cohen is a multiple award-winning English comedian, actor, director, screenwriter, philanthropist, and movie producer, who is of Jewish descent. He is a very unique actor and comedian who creates his own fictional characters, complete with their accents and sometimes eccentric behavior. Often controversial, he has courted his fair share legal battles instituted against him by countries that he seems to have “offended” in his satirical comedy.

Though Sacha is known more for his movie roles, he actually began his professional acting career on TV in 1995 starring as an execution victim in the television series Jack and Jeremy’s Police 4. Sacha Baron Cohen was born to parents of Jewish descent in Hammersmith, London in England on October 13, 1971.  Sacha grew up in a family of 5, including his father, Gerald Baron Cohen – who owns and runs a clothing shop, his Israeli mother, Danielle Naomi (nee Weiser) – who worked as a movement instructor, and his 2 older brothers – Amnon and Erran. Sacha and his brothers were raised Jewish in London, and they are all very fluent in the Hebrew language – a skill that would help Sacha immensely in his life and career as an actor.

The comedian began his education at The Haberdashers’ Aske Boys School, Elstree, Hertfordshire in England, and then got admission into Christ College, Cambridge – one of the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with a degree in History in 1993, with an Upper Second Class honors. While in the University, he was a member of the institution’s Amateur Dramatic Club where he featured in theater plays such as Cyrano de Bergerac and Fiddler on the roof; he was also a member of the Habonim Dror Jewish Theater.

Sacha Baron Cohen is currently married to Isla Fisher, who is also an actress and has featured in very popular movies such as Now You See Me, Keeping Up with the Joneses and Wedding Crashers. The pair reportedly first met at a social event in Sydney, Australia in 2002 and they became friends which later blossomed into a relationship. Two years after meeting, their relationship had progressed to the point that they got engaged; not too long after this, Isla converted to Judaism. They were engaged for a few more years before they eventually got married in a Jewish ceremony in Paris, France on March 15, 2010. The couple has three children, who have pretty much been kept away from the attention of the public by their super secretive father.

We all know who Sacha Baron Cohen is by now, but who is Simon Baron-Cohen?

Simon Baron-Cohen was born into a middle-class family in London, England on August 15, 1958. He grew up with 4 other siblings – an older brother, a younger brother and two sisters.

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Sciences from New College, Oxford, England, and then proceeded to the Institute of Psychiatry of Kings College, London before then proceeding to the University College, London where he obtained his Masters of Philosophy in Psychology. He is currently a Professor of Development Psychology at the University of Cambridge, and he has done very extensive work on Autism. In 1985, he was credited with formulating the blindness theory of autism, and he collated his findings and published them by 1995.

Simon Baron-Cohen met the beautiful Bridget Lindley while they were both in college at Oxford, and they got married in 1987; their blissful marriage of 29 years was cut short tragically in 2016 when his wife succumbed to breast cancer. Simon and Bridget’s had three children together.

To answer the question with regards to the relationship between Sacha Baron Cohen and Simon Baron-Cohen, it is worth noting first and foremost that they are both of English Origin, and secondly, records have it that they are indeed related and more specifically, that they are cousins.

Simon Baron-Cohen has a hyphen between his middle and last names, unlike his cousin, which came about as a typographical error in writing his name for his first published article, and he has never bothered to correct it, rather he adopted it going forward. It is also worth noting that Simon Baron-Cohen is 13 years older than his cousin Sacha Baron Cohen.
