Isabella Gomez was born on the 9th day of February 1998, in Medellin, Colombia. She belongs to the Latina ethnicity. At the age of 5, she got interested in acting and has dedicatedly followed it till now. Following her discovery of her affinity with the screen, she began appearing in commercials until she was 10 when her parents moved the family to Orlando, Florida to seek better opportunities for their little girl. While in Florida, she received formal acting training and lessons from a vocal coach to help moderate her accent.

After some years, fully set to take on Tinseltown, the Gomez family decided it was time to move again. This time, they relocated to Los Angeles in 2015. Before then, however, she had already debuted on the small screen in a recurring role as Christina Sandoval in the series, Matador. Soon after, she landed a guest role on the ABC mockumentary family sitcom, Modern Family as Flavia on The Party episode (2016) of the series.

Elena is a rarely giddy teenager who’s enthusiastic about social justice issues and determined to make her mark in the world. She is more defined by her intellect than her looks and as such, cares little about her appearance much to the chagrin of her vain abuela (grandmother), Lydia, played by . During season 1 of the series, she came out to her family as a lesbian and amidst the challenges of not having her father accept her sexual preferences, she started developing a love life in season 2.
