Biography – J. J. Watt’s Profile

J. J. Watt was born Justin James Watt, in Waukesha, Wisconsin on the 22nd of March, 1989. As a child, Watt played a variety of sports, specifically hockey but had to give it up for financial reasons. By the time he attended Pewaukee High School, he began concentrating on football, even though he also featured on his school’s basketball, baseball, and track and field teams and received letters in all of them.

Watt did not garner as much interest from college programs even though he had earned first-team All-State, All-County, All-Area, and All-Conference selections, as well as the Woodland Conference Player of the Year Award in his senior year. He went on to attend Central Michigan University where he spent a year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and played football with the Badgers. With the Badgers, Watt was a standout performer, earning the Ronnie Lott Trophy in 2010, second-team All-American selections by the Associated Press and Sports Illustrated before enlisting to enter the draft and skipping his senior year.

After performing very highly in all NFL Combine categories, J. J. Watt was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft with the 11th overall pick by the Houston Texans, and the rest today, is history.
