Jack Black likes to think of himself as an entertainment arsenal. He once likened his music career to a machete and his acting to a bazooka, promising you wouldn’t know what he’ll be coming at you with. The American is also a comedian and a writer.

His television credits range from him portraying a teenage boy in 1991’s Our Shining Moments to playing Alex Talbot in 2015’s The Brinks which he also produced. Jack also appeared as Rear Admiral Roy Billups and Ludwig van Beethoven in 2017’s The Last Man on Earth and Great Minds with Dan Harmon, respectively. Inbetween the years (1991 – 2017) are a vast range of Jack’s tv roles just as his film works spanned through 1992 to 2018, majorly consisting comedy films.

Born as Thomas Jacob Black on the 28th day of August 1969 in Santa Monica, California, Jack spent most of his early life in the beachfront city in Los Angeles County – Hermosa Beach. When his parents’ marriage collapsed, 10-year-old Jack lived with his dad, Thomas William Black but regularly visited his mom, Judith Love who was working with the Hubble Space Telescope as a satellite engineer.

Jacks ethnic descent has been identified as British-German on the part of his father and Russian Jewish from his mother’s side. His father conversion to Judaism gave Jack an identity in the Jewish faith. While he attended a Hebrew school, he also attended Crossroads High School for the Arts and Sciences, California’s Poseidon School in Santa Monica and the University of California, Los Angeles. He abandoned his studies in his second-year at the university to focus on building a career in the entertainment industry.

Black partnered with Kyle Gass to form Tenacious D, a rock band group which gained mainstream popularity for its comedic and satiric lyrics. In 2015, the band won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.

People are yet to stop asking if Jack Black is dead since it circulated sometime in June 2016 that the star had passed on.
