If there was ever a child who had the genetic predisposition of becoming the greatest ever tennis player, that person would be Jaden Gil Agassi, the son of 8-time Grand Slam champion, , and 22-time Grand Slam winner Steffi Graf, both of whom have been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. While many people might think Jaden’s career path has been carved out for him, the youngster opted to go in a different direction as he looks to leave a legacy of his own.

Jaden Gil Agassi – Bio

Jaden Gil Agassi was welcomed to the world on the 26th of October, 2001 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is half German through his mother and half American through his father. He has a younger sister named Jaz Elle.

As one might have expected from the child of athletes, Jaden had an interest in sports from a young age. To the surprise of everyone, however, his sport of choice was soccer and not tennis. His parents had publicly said that they were not interested in pushing their kids towards becoming tennis players as they themselves had been forced to play the game as children. For this reason, they only provided support, encouragement and nurtured whatever route Jaden wanted to take in life. He went on to play soccer for a while before falling in love with baseball.

While attending high school, Jaden Gil Agassi was known to have been a part of his school’s baseball team. He also played for several youth teams in the Las Vegas area, with his father making sure to take him to baseball practices and not interfere with his coaching. Jaden soon developed a fastball and was known for his extraordinary hand-eye coordination and ability to hit home runs, making a name for himself and soon becoming one of the most wanted recruits in his class.

Family

As mentioned above, Jaden Gil Agassi is the son of legendary tennis players; Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. Andre, a former world No. 1, is considered to be one of the greatest players to ever hold a racket. Some of his achievements include being the first male player to win all four Grand Slam tournaments on three different surfaces and the first to achieve the Career Golden Slam. His wife, also a former No. 1 who further holds the record as the longest ranked number 1 player (male or female), is the only tennis player to have won each Grand Slam tournament at least four times. She is also the only female player to achieve a Career Golden Slam.

As one would imagine, Jaden Gil Agassi’s parents Steffi and Andre had known each other for some years as they were both very high performing players on the tennis tour. It was however not until 1999, just after they both participated at that year’s French Open tournament, that they began exclusively seeing each other. Steffi had at the time just come out of a seven-year relationship with German race car driver Michael Bartels while Andre had just finalized divorce proceedings from his ex-wife, actress , who he married in 1997 but had been together with since 1993.

After about two years together, the American and the German decided to take the next step as they went ahead to exchange vows on the 22nd of October, 2001. They interestingly had a very private ceremony at Andre’s Las Vegas home that had only their mothers in attendance. Steffi Graf was heavily pregnant at the wedding and just four days after entering into a marriage contract, she gave birth to Jaden. In 2003, Jaden was given a sister named Jaz Elle.
