The 2018 NFL Draft saw a new set of rookie players join the 32 team under the National Football League. All these players got the phone call they had hoped will change their lives and it’s now up to them to work their way to the top. Nick Chubb is one of the lucky college football players that got drafted, in his case, by the Cleveland Browns.

Nick Chubb Biography (Age)

Records hold it that this American player was born on the 27th of December 1995 and named after one of the eight Chubb brothers who formed a free colony of blacks that survived through the American civil war. This community grew over a long period of time, purchasing more real estate as the opportunity arose and later became Chubbtown. Although it is no longer a town again, it still exists as an unincorporated area in Floyd County, Georgia. Interestingly, descendants of the original Chubb brothers continue to attain astounding heights.

Several leading football families have emerged over the years, there are the Colquitts, Mannings, Bowdens, Geathers, and the Harbaughs. The Chubbs have also taken their place in this regard as a handful of them have played in either college or professional teams.

Henry Chubb, Nick’s father played football for the Valdosta State team while his (Henry’s) brother played for Georgia as a linebacker. Going a generation below, Nick’s elder brothers, Henry and Zach also played football for Troy University as an outside linebacker and the Air Force as a defensive back respectively. Professionally, Brandon Chubb (Nick’s cousin) plays for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL. Another cousin, got drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft. He also has another sibling named Neidra.

His Career, Injury, and Stats

The athletic traits in Nick Chubb’s family were noticed in him during his high school days at Cedartown High School located in Cedartown, Georgia – he was a star in both track & field and football. As a junior, he was one of the most remarkable players, gathering a massive 2721 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns. He didn’t disappoint as a senior also as he left behind a total record of 102 rushing touchdowns and 6983 rushing yards. On the track, Nick participated in various events like shot put, long jump, and 100-meters race. Between 2011 and 2015, he won several titles at various sporting events.

It was, therefore, no surprise when scout.com and rivals.com listed him as a four-star recruit and he subsequently accepted a scholarship in 2014 to play for the University of Georgia with Mark Richt as coach. His freshman season saw him as a backup to Todd Gurley, a starter who is now a running back in the NFL. Todd’s suspension would later give Chubb a chance at being a starter and he ended the season with 1547 rushing yards. His sophomore year started well but Nick didn’t get the chance to assert himself as much as he desired, the season ended badly for him after he sustained a serious injury on his knee.

Luckily, Chubb recovered in time to begin in the 2016 season under the coaching of Kirby Smart. Despite having an ankle sprain earlier in the season, he recorded a touchdown which sealed the Georgia team’s victory against TCU in the 2016 Liberty Bowl. His performance earned him a good number of prestigious recognitions and in view of that, it was thought that he would avail himself for the 2017 NFL Draft. This didn’t happen as Nick decided to remain with the Bulldogs. He eventually led the team to win the SEC championship with him recording 13 touchdowns and 1,175 yards.

In the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Nick Chubb came 35th overall as he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. It later emerged that he has signed a four-year contract worth $7.4 million with the side; the deal came with a signing bonus of $3.4 million. During the 2018 preseason, Chubb strived to make an impression but wasn’t able to pull off any significant record. However, he managed 15 rushes in 11 yards with one target for 12 yards in Cleveland’s victory against the Giants on 9th August.

Thus far, the major injuries this bloke has suffered as a footballer includes the knee injury he sustained on the 10th of October 2015 and another ankle sprain in 2016.
