After her graduation from high school, Jena attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee to study International Business. Despite maintaining her life as a student, Jena Sims had a brief career as a pageant contestant.
Supported by her parents, the young lady who has always been a beautiful child started competing in pageantry from the young age of 16.
She entered the Miss Georgia Junior National Teenage competition in 2004, winning the competition and getting crowned Miss Georgia Junior National Teenager. She kept up to speed and the following year, she won the Miss Junior National Teenager title.
Sims’ pursuit of the top crown in pageantry continued at the Miss Georgia Teen USA 2007. The statewide competition was held in Newman on the 11th of November in 2006.
She won the competition, surpassing her previous year’s finish at the 2006 event where she finished in the semi-finals.
As is the tradition, she was crowned by the outgoing queen, Brittany Sharp, but the crown wasn’t the only responsibility Sharp passed onto Jena Sims, she was also tasked with representing Georgia in the Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant.

Unfortunately, Sims was unable to follow up on their achievements of Sharp as she did not even place in the pageant, becoming the first Miss Georgia not to place in the national competition since 2003.
