Prison facilities are ideally meant to be correctional institutions that help inmates reflect on their bad behaviour and make an effort to change. In the case of Jeremy Meeks, going to prison was perhaps the best thing that happened to him. While others struggle to put their lives together after prison, Jeremy had a lucrative modelling contract waiting for him immediately he left jail.

Jeremy Meeks is an American fashion model born on the 7th of February 1984. He became popular after his arrest at a Stockton California gang sweep tagged Operation Ceasefire in 2014. As is common, the cops took his mug shot but the picture found its way to social media and went viral. Jeremy’s good looks had all the right tongues wagging.

He was arrested on a felony charge of street terrorism as well as for a misdemeanour charge of resisting/obstruction of justice. He was incarcerated at the Mendota Federal Correctional Institution but released in March 2016 which led him to begin his modelling career.
During his 27 month sentence, Meeks was soon to be tagged as the “hot felon” in the media and signed a modelling Contract with White Cross Management. During his time behind bars, he was snapped up by talent agent Gina Rodriguez. He made an appearance during New York Fashion Week in February of 2017 which was subsequently his runway debut. He made an unprecedented appearance for Vogue magazine which led him to be unsurprisingly nicknamed the “buff bad boy”.
In June 2017 he was invited to the Milan Fashion week which subsequently led him to be amongst the host of models on the Milan catwalk as an employee of the world-renowned German fashion designer Phillip Plein.
He followed up his exploits in Milan in February 2017 with an appearance in August 2017, in a campaign for Israeli sunglasses fashion house “Carolina Lemke” which is partly owned by Bar Refaeli a household name in Isreali fashion. The campaign was duly centred on Meeks’ background, Rafaeli appeared on the campaign side by side Meeks. The supermodel Raphaeli did go on to shower Meeks with much deserved praise and acclaim, saying “there has never been a mix like this”

Jeremy Meeks met up with Melissa, the mother of his son in 2007 and they dated for about a year and got married in 2008. Their marriage was blessed with a son – Jeremy Meeks Jr. Jeremy has another son from a past relationship named Robert. Their marriage of 9 years was subsequently ended when images of the model kissing Chloe Green emerged.
The photo shows the pair having a good time on a yacht. In early 2018, pictures appeared of the duo hugging each other in a pool. Melissa got to find out and subsequently filed for a divorce. She said she felt “humiliated” because Jeremy claimed to be on a work trip in Turkey.
She was quoted saying “we talked about the divorce. I told him I didn’t think the marriage could be saved. He agreed. The marriage is over.”

Meeks has two brothers Emery Meeks and Bryan Varela and a sister named Leanna Rominger who is 12 years his senior and took custody of little Jeremy over 20 years ago when he was aged 10.
