She grew up in Sydney along with her two siblings and they were raised by their parents Helen and her husband Peter McNamee. While in high school, Jessica took part in several plays as well as dramas in her school, she completed her education at Loreto Normanhurst and the University of Sydney, Australia.

At the early stages of her career, Jessica got her first acting role in the Australian soap opera Home and Away in 2007. Along with Stefano Olivieri, Jessica participated in the ninth episode of Dancing with the Stars in 2009.
