Julianne Hough is an American actress, singer and dancer. She is best known for her time on ABC’s reality show Dancing With The Stars, which she has won twice; her brother, Derek, who is also on Dancing With The Stars has won the show six times. For the fifth season of the show, she was nominated for a Creative Arts Primetime Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Choreography.

Julianne did not make her mark in acting until she appeared in the 2011 remake of the iconic dance film, Footloose.

In an uncommon occurrence for a remake, the film received critical acclaim and was compared positively to the original. In 2014, she returned to Dancing With The Stars as a judge. In 2015, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography along with her brother and Tessandra Chavez.

The talented performer was born on the 20th of July, 1988 in Orem, Utah. She grew up in a Mormon family. Her father, Bruce Robert Hough, was the chairman of Utah Republic Party twice. She has four older siblings – Sharee, Marabeth, Derek and Katherine.

She comes from a family of dancers – her older brother is a dancer and all of her grandparents (both maternal and paternal) were also dancers. She is also cousins with the American actor and musician – Ross Lynch, and his siblings, fellow musicians – Rocky, Rydek and Riker.

Julianne Hough began her official training as a dancer when she joined Orem’s Center Stage Performing Arts Studio. After this, she began dancing competitively. After her parents’ divorce, she and her brothers were sent to London to live with and learn from Corky and Shirley Ballas, renowned dance teachers.

Like her brother, She later joined Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts where she was trained in theatre, song, different forms of dance – tap, ballet and jazz – and also in gymnastics.

At 15, she became the only American and the youngest dancer to win both the International Latin Youth Champion and the Junior World Latin Champion at the renowned Blackpool Dance Festival – a famous, annual, internationally recognized ballroom dance competition.

She returned to the United States later that year and attended Alta High School and Las Vegas Academy.
